DINOSAUR felt like the perfect first ride to rank because it hits very high on my personal ride intensity scale. It is dark, loud, and surprising, and the movement is unpredictable. There is simulated danger, flashing lights, and the illusion that things are out of control. I will also add that I enjoyed it and giggled for most of it. Dollywood has so much to do for the entire family, riders and non-riders, and anywhere in between. It has easily become one of our favorite places to visit. And there’s still so much more for us to do with the Dolly Parton Experience opening at the end of this month and the Dollywood’s Splash Country reopening. So many gluten free and dairy free options and substitutions. I ordered the hummus and veggies at our hotel and instead of Pita they gave me chips! Nearest airport? McGee-Tyson Airport (TYS) and it’s about 45 minutes from Dollywood Worth it for adults with no kids? Yep! This place has SO MANY amazing rides and shows. Plus I love the history of the park! I spent a great day at Animal Kingdom with a friend taking readings and starting to develop more accurate ride descriptions to help those with sensory processing issues make more informed decisions. I am so excited to share them with you! But the day started with frustration as I picked up this “Guide for Guests with Disabilities” and saw no information to help guests with cognitive or developmental disabilities. 😔 💚 Just because a disability is invisible… doesn’t mean the people that have it are. Stop Doing This At Theme Parks! Using your phone on a roller coaster is one of the most unsafe things you can do. It could fall onto guests below you or fly back and hit guests behind you, resulting in injuries. You know what’s more expensive than a theme park ticket? Getting sued. Many theme parks will stop a roller coaster on its chain lift if they see someone with their phone out. This holds up the wait times for those in line as someone has to walk up the lift hill to tell them to put their phone away. A theme park may also kick you out of the park for having your cell phone out on a roller coaster. Don’t waste your money buying a ticket to a theme park and then get kicked out. Having your cell phone out on a roller coaster is unsafe, unconscionable, and unwise. No matter if it’s a big Six Flags roller coaster or a smaller Disney roller coaster, just don’t do it. On a personal mission to try all the flavors at Florean Fortescue’s.. 🍦 After many years of nothing, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in @unistudios finally has a Florean Fortescue’s for guests to enjoy! 🥳 @universalorlando has had this beloved ice cream shop for years since they have a Diagon Alley but despite the Hollywood park only having a Hogsmeade, the decision was made to bring a Florean Fortescue’s anyway. 🤪 Two main differences between the two shops: 1️⃣ @unistudios only sells the soft serve flavors. @universalorlando sells both soft serve and hard pack flavors including strawberry peanut butter. 2️⃣@unistudios Florean Fortescue’s is inside Honeydukes. @universalorlando Florean Fortescue’s is its own shop inside Diagon Alley. So far I’ve tried Granny Smith (first photo), Butterbeer (second photo), and toffee apple (last photo and my favorite so far). What other flavors should I try next?
🌋Volcano Bay We skipped the Universal water park on our first few trips to Orlando as we felt we were already spoilt for choice on awesome water parks in the UAE and we'd be left unimpressed, how wrong were we! @volcanobayorl is absolutely one of the best water parks worldwide, and we've tested many, many across Asia!! From the layout and themeing to the TapuTapu queuing system and some serious thrill-factor rides with everything available to 48"+ kids, this is the ideal water park for thrill-seeking tweens and teens. We went back a second time as the queues did get too long mid-way through a beautiful sunny day. In contrast, on a stormy morning, we got queue-free access to absolutely everything!! Located near the Blue Man Group, between the Despicable Me ride and the Studios Store, this entrance is perfect for those aiming to get into the parks quickly. At rope drop for Universal Island of Adventures. We thought the boat guys at our hotel were having a laugh when they said be ready at the dock 6.45am for first boat 7am, for early park opening 8am. We weren't quite that keen, but nonetheless casually made it to the gate before 8 and were in lets say first 500 through the gate, power walked to Wizarding World which has one of the only rides not on Express Pass, still 120 min wait!! Another early start needed at some point this week if we want to tick off every ride and attraction, but given we are using Park-to-Park Unlimited Express passes, our need for strategising rides has been greatly reduced, I don't think we'll ever do Universal again without them!! It's an absolute must to protect your skin and also your eyes and head! 💨Portable Fan- Speaking of heat, you'll want a nice little fan to cool you down when waiting in the lines under the hot sun! A must for littles too! 🔋Portable Battery- Taking pictures and videos all day will drain your battery so fast! Having a portable charger handy to juice it back up is key! 💦Water bottle- Hydration is SO important for long days in the heat. I have first hand experienced getting dehydrated in the parks and it's terrible! And dangerous! I always like to carry a little water bottle in the bag but if you find yourself lacking space, you can ask for a cup water for free at any restaurant on property! We had a fantastic day at EPCOT! We got there around 4 and stayed til close! Don’t be afraid to do Disney when it’s raining. We walked straight on to every ride we did (Nemo, Living with the Land, Figment, Three Caballeros, & Spaceship Earth). We also walked through Journey of Water twice because it’s awesome! It was great for Freya’s first visit!
5 things I always take to theme parks with kids: 1. Snacks - having a few snacks to hand stops those hangry moments and means I save money on those $6 Mickey premium bars. 2. Sun cream - even in UK parks it can be hot, bringing my own sun cream means I can top them up during the day and ensure I have a sun cream that works with their skin. 3. Refillable water bottles - staying hydrated is key if you want to maximise your holiday fun. A refillable water bottle means you keep everyone topped up and don't drink too much soda which is less hydrating. 4. Mobile games - queues are not fun but they can be if you have devices loaded up with games they can play together or as a family. Heads Up, chess and bowling are all fun ones that are good for a variety of ages. Or, take Top Trumps or a pack of cards for screen free fun. 5.
