I was getting my nails done today when I overheard a man getting a pedicure say “when I get the urge to exercise, I lie down until the feeling passes” I didn’t give him the dirty look I wanted to- but he definitely saw me shaking my head at him… Did you know that your hobbies and actions can build either your feminine energy or your masculine energy. I came to this conclusion when I learned they banned women’s sports back in the day… and why? Because sports teaches you competition, drive, determination- ego… they didn’t want women having that… lol… look at what had happens since we did… (not saying it’s bad 🤣) Exercise is all about masculine energy… it teaches you focus, concentration, discipline- you are the only one doing it so you feel pride and prestige when you hit your goals. Exercise is the energy of doing. Getting your nails done is feminine… it’s passive, someone is taking care of you, nurturing you… it’s a time for you to relax and recharge and something beautiful comes out after. You learn ease, peace and allowing when you’re getting your nails done. It’s the energy of being. Now I’m not saying men shouldn’t get their nails done- I think it’s great and good for everyone. I just see alot of males in this society- only practicing that energy and that makes me shake my head. 🤬 This was just an example today of that I guess. There was a child inside of me, waiting for someone to show her the chapter and verse where her Goddess awaits. One day, that child receives her dream. Sometimes all it takes to liberate us, finally, from one story into another is reassuring our subconscious mind that the thing we’ve been yearning for (in this case, Goddess) has been with us all along. The beauty of rediscovering the ancestral Divine Feminine in our Abrahamic religious tradition(s) ... is that we also reclaim our permission to be both fertile and ferocious. This is the pattern we see with well-known Mesopotamian goddesses like Inanna. Hers is a permission to be “fully feminine” that most of us never received in religion. The reality is, we do have an Inanna of the Abrahamic Covenant … and Her name is Shaddai. We get the full spectrum of the feminine experience in our own ancestral goddess, but no one ever explained it to us that way. We have permission to be both Fertile and Ferocious. We get to cultivate BOTH sides of ourselves. It’s a privilege and a joy as well as a deep dive into the mysteries of the “dark” feminine … the womb-led sovereign self. Of course, being ferocious doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be loud or that you have to be scary. But there is that sense of deep grounding in your power … and we see that too in our “own Inanna” inside the pages of the Bible. In a car driving through Puglia at the minute 🥹🤍🙏🏼 This week I’ve had so many *pinch me* moments. We are all leaving the retreat this morning. Bittersweet goodbyes but knowing that we will reunite eventually. I love this group of women ❤️🔥❤️🔥 It’s hard to put into words spending time in-person, getting hugs from, and just in the PRESENCE with soul fractal sisters. Whether they are clients/mentors is the same. We are souls who found each other again. That’s why for me one of the most important things is relationships. As a Cancer rising I am understanding more and more why this has been integral to my growth— relationships. Not fitting in was the story of my life which is why I turned to online. I wanted to share an offerings for all women, not exclusively for BIPOC folks. I will be hosting a Goddess Durga - yoga and storytelling workshop on the 4th May online. As a menstruator, I bet you’ve felt guilty at some point for trashing disposable pads. While there are alternatives like reusable pads, menstrual cups, and period panties, I know that sometimes your circumstances dictate otherwise. Disposable pads are those necessary, convenient options that do make life marginally easy for us menstruators. That’s why, I am not completely discounting them. At Flawsome, the first pads we’ll launch will be disposable but with a difference. They’ll have the bare minimum plastic - 90% less than most pads. These pads will use a single base layer of plastic instead of the top, transfer, absorbent, and base layers used by other pads. My goal is to also eliminate that little layer entirely from our production process so that no menstruator has to choose between guilt and comfort during their periods.
