“When are we getting you married?” | “How are you single?” | “Did he call?” | “Why didn’t he call?” | “Let’s go eat lunch outside, maybe you’ll meet someone.” | “Jess, the younger women are catching up and having babies, you better get to it.” | “Are you being too picky?” | “I just want you to find someone.” These are comments that I have been receiving from men at work as of lately. It has somehow become a thing and is happening on what seems to be a weekly basis. Look, there is no one who wants me to find my person more than me, but comments like the above do not get me one step closer to finding him nor make me feel good. It makes me want to punch them in their baby maker. I have every right to be “picky” when it comes to marriage and having children. Call me old fashioned, but I’m trying to get this right the first time and refuse to fall captive to societies timelines. These “compliments” are constant reminders of how difficult and exhausting dating can be when it should be fun. The world is very different and it’s a crazy playing field. There are multiple options in the palms of mens hands and a perpetual curiosity of the next best thing — the possibility of something better. I don’t have the answers or a crystal ball, but what I do know is that I will end up with my person when the timing is right. I am happy, confident in who I am and what I have to offer, am focused on being the best version of me possible, know what I want in a partner and what I deserve. Stop getting mad about the wrong things. If he’s “cheating” on you, it means there is an underlying problem that need to be acknowledged and dealt with. Maturely. Yelling, fighting, arguing, cussing him or her out, wanting to hurt them. None of those things are going to fix the real problem. Nine times out of ten you both are equally at fault for where you are in your relationship. The problem is, neither of you will take accountability for your role you played in this movie you’re in. Stop pointing fingers or ignoring the facts. It’s not the cheating that is the problem. Cheating is not a crime, it is an act that happens typically as a defense mechanism to cover up a more serious 🧐 matter that most likely is a result of some sort of childhood trauma or some type of trauma you may have suffered from and never properly dealt with in. I've been living on this earth for four decades 🎉 I'd like to say I'm an open book, but truth be told, it takes a while for me to get to know people, and for people to get to know me. I'm on a journey towards wholeheartedly loving myself first. ❤️ I'm a recovering people pleaser. I love everyone and would do anything for anybody. As a kid, I was extremely outgoing... until I wasn't. I'm sensitive, and throughout my life I learned to protect myself by not truly being who I was. I was really good at being the life of the party and had friends in many, many different social circles. But I didn't really know who my people were. I was just happy that people liked me as I floated from group to group. The older I got, the more shy I became, 😶🌫️ and I didn't know how to be myself. I suffered from depression and addictions. In fact, depression was one of my addictions. I've always been curious about the unseen and how my mind works. 👁 I love personal growth, and the journey I'm on towards knowing my true self. Over the last 5 years, I've dug really deep. Worked with mentors, spiritual and somatic teachers, and myself to uncover and dismantle the things in my mind and in my body that were not serving me. 🫂 I discovered meditation. I discovered women's circles. I discovered true sisterhood. I discovered the non duality perspective of life. I discovered many, many, many, many passions, including - as @brenebrown would say - the "something bigger" that I would like to give back to others who share this earth with me. 🔥🌬🌍🌊 I am passionate about helping others. I am reading a book right now called the ‘The Celestine Prophecy’ (Ive read it before but I’m reading it again 😊… and I highly recommend everyone read!) This book is all about how everything has and is energy. Meet #TheWitch . This lesson saw us start with a new head and face, which I had fully planned to do. But whilst feeling into how I was going to start I realised that the face & head I already made earlier in the week was made with the energy of wisdom and clarity and this lent itself beautifully to the energy of The Witch. Her hair is made with fibre made from roses and has an almost luminous glow to it. Unfortunately it sheds incredibly too, hence the braiding and the excess on her dress. I extended the magick of clarity with the eye (over her heart - from within) and added the owl and acorn for wisdom. As we bleed with the moon, women’s spirits are traveling on other planes. While I bleed, especially on the heaviest days, I often feel spacey and not entirely present. I can feel there’s a part of myself somewhere far away. It’s important we allow ourselves to inwardly travel during this time, to do that work, even when it’s unconscious (or especially when it’s unconscious). This is work that serves more than just ourselves. I have found ways to honor my cycle, to remind myself of the ritual of bleeding I am in while I’m in it, and to invite my inner self to do the work my bleeding calls me to do. Bleeding monthly is a ceremony we as women hold not only for ourselves, but for the whole world. By honoring your cycle, you are not only giving a gift to yourself, but giving a gift to others by holding and working with energy that is needed in the world. Diving into this mystery is a life-long practice and is ever-unfolding its gifts for us all. This rhythm is inside of all women- whether we are bleeding women or not- whether we have gone through menopause and keep our wise blood inside, we have had a hysterectomy, or don’t bleed for any other reason. The rhythm of the moon cycle lives within us as women. As I have worked with my cycle, I have found practices that support me in this work and help me to sink deeper into the mystery that calls to women as we bleed. Let's talk about outfit because what you wear can drastically change the final images and it's something to consider when deciding on your looks. (But don't worry, once you book a session you get my full outfit guide to help you plan!) Things to ask when you are shopping... Do I want to stay in my comfort zone or step out? Do I want to be true to my day to day or get creative? What variety do I want in my final images? What color palette do I want for the final result? Let's talk comfort zone... many women get nervous stepping into garter belts and fishnets, and that's ok! If you want to keep it classic with a bra and panty set, one piece lingerie, tank top and panties then stay what feels most you. Now let's talk true to the day to day or not... many clients want to really see themselves in their final images and that means they may lean towards the pieces they actually wear at home but on the flip side other women want to further step out of their comfort zone and into pieces they may have never owned or even tried on. You need to decide what experience you want. Now variety... it's easy to find a style that is flattering and buy it in different colors or slightly different cuts, however that doesn't offer a lot of variety. So do you want images in a two piece set, along with images in a garter and stockings, along with a dress, along with a tank. Also consider colors and how they may provide variety in the final looks. Lastly, color palette... I know this sounds strange but in the end you are going to have a beautiful gallery, likely a stunning album, some prints, or even a video. My dance with the divine this morning as I lifted my blinds this morning. It was a light show and another one from last night each building on one another. We are to remember Love is Creation and Creation is Soul and to fully embrace in this Dance is a choice I am feeling a deeper connection to the sun codes of Source this is how I first became interested in Spirituality decades ago. I would collect sun symbols on mugs paintings candle holders and anything that I could find! All leading me to open the door a gentle nudge. 🦋INFRADIAN RHYTHM VS CIRCADIAN RHYTHM🦋 Did you know that male biology runs on a 24 hour hormonal clock while female biology runs on a roughly 28 day hormonal clock? We are quite literally *that different.* I remember learning this and being completely mind-blown. The male biological cycle mirrors the cycle of the sun (aka the circadian rhythm), with testosterone and energy levels rising and falling with the hours of the day, while the female biological cycle (aka the infradian rhythm) is stretched out across an entire month, with energy levels rising and falling throughout the entirety of the menstrual cycle. This cycle of course mirrors the moon, while the masculine cycle mirrors the sun. And of course, we see many Indigenous and ancient cultures associating masculine/father energy to the sun and feminine/mother energy to the moon. Beyond mirroring the moon, the infradian rhythm also mirrors the four seasons. The hormonal shifts that impact our desire for connection, our energy levels, our creativity and beyond line up with the changes that happen in earth throughout the seasons. The blooming energy that we experience during follicular can be likened to spring, while the inward quiet and heightened need for rest we experience during menstruation can be likened to winter. THERE IS AN ERA OF CHANGE HAPPENNING FROM WITHIN In truth, the energy of change has been with me all my life. I’ve just never know what that anxious, desperate desire to be so different from everyone else yet be accepted by society has really been about. The twist was that I had to learn and relearn my mistakes so that I can reclaim all the parts of me that I had given away unknowingly to others who have entered the vortex of me and moulded and shifted me into the person that I am today. The conversations that have been circulating lately is around the inner critic. That little voice inside your head that points out all the ways you can’t do something, or all the ways that you are not good enough for the world. Then the other day when I was speaking to one of my kids about something that I wanted them to do around the house rather than how they were doing it, I thought, “am I their inner critic voice?” Yes kids are one of the best mirrors and teachers you will ever have in your life. They reflect back the questions and the answers that you have been seeking while getting you to really feel into the deepnesss of who you are and who you claim to be. There is no hiding from them. They know your truths, even if you do not express them in tonal language. Change and reflection is never easy. I don't care who you are. It scary, it most of the time sucks, but it is so necessary for growth even if you face it kicking and screaming. Your world will change around you no matter what happens. How will you adapt and change withheld flow or will you try to strangle some sort of "control" that gives you a false sense of hope and lack lustre joy? What are the truths that you seek? How/who in your vortex is already speaking/reflecting that truth to you already? Are you seeing the change? 💚 Connecting with Nature 💚 🐞 🌼🌸 🐝 🌱 I am thrilled to have an opportunity to volunteer at my local primary school to connect the children with the wonders of the natural herbs around them. I had fun doing the first of 10 foraging sessions last week 🌿💚 🌎 We started by discussing responsible foraging, sustainability and different uses of the wild herbs in the community garden including elder, cleavers and garlic mustard 🌿 We then picked young bramble leaves to dry for tea and had fun using our hands and the pestle and mortar to pound them as a first stage to make fermented bramble leaf tea ☕ Bramble leaves are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants and traditionally the tea was drunk to soothe a sore throat and mouth ulcers. ☕ 💚 🌿 Separate post to follow on how to make a delicious fermented tea ☕ #scottishforager #herbalmedicine #blackberrymedicine #foragingwithchildren #communitygardens #wildherbs #foraging #returntonature #wisewoman #wildwoman
