Some of the things that have happened to @stanleywoowah lately when we’ve been out and about.. 🐾 Woman flagged us down in her car to ask why he wasn’t muzzled because she has children and a cocker poo… 😱 🐾 He got blessed in the street by a priest with American bulldogs who wished him to always have muddy paws and a wet nose.. ⛪️ 🐾 Small person shouted ‘Dad, look at that big, fat, dog’..😶 🐾 Lady walking behind us randomly shouted ‘can I pet your dog!’ when we didn’t even know she was there ⁉️ 🐾Flyering for the Dogs Home and older lady ran out and insisted on treating him by hand 🙈 🐾Woman with out of control off lead puppies told us to go to anger management for politely blocking their puppies from launching themselves at him 🙅♀️ 🐾Woman out running in field with out of control, off lead puppy, asked us if we were going keep him on the lead while she carried on doing loops round us on her run 😬 🐾 Keeps getting mistaken for a silver Lab.. 🤔 🐾 Got bowled over by two off lead Labs when they were allowed to bolt out of their car boot for their walk, with zero supervision from the owner 😡 🐾 Woman told me off when I asked her not to reach out to him with her hand because he doesn’t like it 😡 🐾 Been shouted at by MANY little fluffies with small dog syndrome 🐕🦺 As a nervous boy, Stan has been coping remarkably well with these random encounters. For all the bad things and nasty looks, we’re hugely grateful for all the kind responses from the general public - even if they do try to push his boundaries sometimes. Jax & Storm had a lovely evening finally being able to go and watch football again. Yes the muzzles aren’t the prettiest things for our babies but they do mean they are able to be out and enjoy what they were able to before without the risk of being taken away from us. 4 months of Coco 💜 first ever bull breed, first ever ‘dangerous dog’. We’ve learnt lots in the last few months. Coco’s a little sponge and throws herself into training with so much enthusiasm! My lessons have been a bit tougher! I’ve learnt that this owning a banned breed malarkey is much harder than I expected. Coco isn’t harder, she’s easy. A happy, eager to please, hungry puppy but teaching her to want to go out into the world when it involves a big plastic thing on her face has been really tough. Watching her trying to pick up sticks or a dropped treat and being totally frustrated and giving up has been sad. Listening to her crying and watching her run away when I pick up her lead and muzzle has at times felt a bit hopeless. Sitting in puppy school while she watches the other puppies munch on tasty chews while she can’t have one because of her muzzle, shit really. All these little moments that with any other puppy I wouldn’t give a second thought to have to be considered and adapted and that’s without talking about the looks and occasional comments we receive out and about, the puppy training we chose to walk out of because we were told we’d bought a tiger into our home and the messages and calls to check Coco will be welcome to visit ‘dog friendly’ places. BUT we’ve had massive wins, we found real cheerleaders who would stop at nothing to make sure Coco thrives @libbithedogtrainer @bullbreedbehaviourist there’s no amount of words to describe the support you’ve given us, you are amazing and I’m so grateful to have found you. @puppyschoolhollywood we could not have found a more welcoming puppy school, you totally restored our confidence and hope, always looking for ways to adapt to help Coco and giving her so much confidence each week. Sarah and Adam are incredible. Coco is wonderful, everyone who knows her thinks so, even Groucho and Anya! MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK I am not ashamed to say that since the XL bully ban was announced in September I have struggled massively. I have had many moments where I thought I couldn’t cope anymore. For months I cried daily and my husband has the patience of a bloody saint. 🥰 Without the wonderful Instagram friends I have made , stan’s trainer, a few select friends and family I am not sure where I’d be! It’s hit us all so hard and whilst I’ve kinda come to terms with it all it’s still so upsetting. Stan has the best life I can give him with the restrictions but it doesn’t stop me feeling sad/jealous/angry when I see all other breeds running free especially when they have zero recall, zero training and some are even aggressive/reactive. I have tried to stop dwelling on this and had to take multiple social media breaks for my own sanity. MONDAY EVENING❤️ Went out with Roxy tonight. People couldn’t have been more different to last week. First encounter with a couple , the lady buried her head in his husbands chest so she could walk past Stan! He was literally just sitting down 😡 Second encounter was a man walk his spaniel. Stan wasn’t reacting at all just walking passed and the man was like “ you’ve got your hands full there”. I mean really ?? Stan was walking beautifully. He enjoyed his walk and wasn’t bothered by anything. He loved watching the baby lambs, that was very interesting. He’s such an amazing boy and is coming on so well. What a day! 🙌🏽 It feels surreal that 6 months ago we set out on a mission to challenge the government over the XL Bully ban and now we have permission to take that challenge to the high court! We still have a long way to go and no doubt a stressful time ahead, but I think it’s important to take a pause and celebrate your successes, as they give you the motivation to power on. The legal team absolutely kicked ass in the permission hearing and I’m truly grateful for their passion and dedication to this campaign. The DBMLM team have all been absolute rocks for each other throughout and worked so hard, whether that’s digging into research, replying to the gazillion emails and messages we get, updating social media or just bringing the banter in our WhatsApp group. Truly the coolest and funniest people I’ve ever met ☺️ All of the supporters who have had faith in our decisions over the last few months, donated to the cause and offered encouraging words. Those words kept us going. Never underestimate the power of a group who truly care. We will ALL be able to look back and say we contributed to challenging our government on this legislation.
