Our little guy had a BIG day last Friday! He had to have 26 teeth pulled (all of them but the canines) due to an issue with stomatitis. He’s been recovering well, minus the fact that he drools way more now. This morning OB’s Vet Tech/shot only appointment was converted to a Vet appointment to get his lip and back looked at. Nobody’s seen his mouth since surgery so it will be good for him if they can get a peek at how he’s healing from that. Hello, it’s Gypsy here! I wanted to share a bit about my journey and how I found happiness at this wonderful sanctuary. When I first arrived, everything was so new and a bit scary, especially since I missed my human mom who had passed away. It took me a little while to understand that this new place would be my home. But now, I absolutely love it here! I’ve become quite the happy girl. Every morning, you can find me jumping up on the couch eagerly awaiting my daily pets. It’s the best part of my day! While I have access to a lovely outdoor area and sometimes enjoy a little stroll there, I must admit, I’m a girl who prefers the cool, comforting indoors. 🎉 This past weekend marked a truly special occasion for our PAWS family! After three years of waiting, Shug and Big Papa have finally found their forever home. Their new mom was drawn to these wonderful kitties, who often went unnoticed due to Shug’s FIV positive status. As strays who found solace in each other’s company, we couldn’t bear to separate them, knowing how rare it is for an FIV cat to have a companion in a shelter environment. We did consider trying to separate them after a year, but Shug started to withdraw while apart, and quickly rebounded upon reuniting with Papa. That’s when we knew they belonged together, and finding them a forever home became our mission. Throughout their time with us, Shug and Big Papa were cherished members of our cattery, but our ultimate goal was always to find them a loving forever family. Their new mom’s determination to provide them with a loving home filled us with joy. She went above and beyond to ensure they felt at ease, creating a cozy space for them to enjoy and feel at home. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found such a perfect match for these special kitties. The love and care they are receiving in their new home fills us with gratitude. We’ve heard they’re settling in beautifully and enjoying watching the birds outside their window. Marty Monday! At Marty’s check up last week he had some bloodwork done. His results came back last week, and turns out his one white blood cell count was a little bit on the low side, meaning his body could have been fighting off some sort of infection. Because of him being FIV+, his immune system is already weak to begin with. I opted to start him on antibiotics. This way we squash any sort of infection avoiding any sickness! This is a great example as to why getting routine bloodwork done is important, but especially for FIV+ cats. Marty was showing absolutely no signs of an infection. If bloodwork hadn’t been done, then there’s a possibility that the infection could have spread and become much worse because I had no idea an infection was brewing!
