frank update and some more info: frank is a girl!! she's anywhere from 3-8 years old and has been tnr-ed. she's fiv positive which is why we're taking some time to think about whether we can keep her or not. im all in but my partner is a little more hesitant because milk and cookie are technically theirs and theyre seniors. frank had some scarring on her back, vet thinks its chemical burn likely from crawling under cars and it dripping on her. shes 8.8lbs a little underweight, and VERY and i mean very good at the vet. better than all of my boys. she didnt go potty for the first 36hrs but after i put her in the litter box to familiarize her with it, she went both pee and poop. we think she's had a litter in the past based off her loose skin on her abdomen. she's very sweet overall, never hissed, never scratches or bites. thats all for now! #cat #cats #catsofinstagram #fiv #fivpositive #explore #explorepage

This is Clarke! He is timid in new situations and would be best as the only animal in the house. No other cats. He will come out of his shell with lots of one on one contact, brushes and affection. The shelter is just a little too much for him so he stays in hiding, and he is very good at finding places to hide. He is actually the top hide and seek champion, but the staff always take time out of their day to find him and let him know things will be okay. He is FIV positive. Feline immuno deficiency virus is transmitted from cat to cat, through deep bites. Clarke has been with us since September 17, 2021. This may not look like anything special, but RaRa sleeping in a cat bed is a big accomplishment. With all her medical issues and past neglect, RaRa can't really cat. She's been napping on blankets we've been leaving on the floor. But a few days ago I got the idea to drape her current blanket of choice half way on the cat bed and half on the floor. the first day she stayed on the floor but soon figured out she could lean against the side of the cat bed. The next morning she found her way onto the comfy bit. Good job, RaRa! And here's a complimentary picture of Tiny Rick looking jealous of all the attention RaRa is getting this morning. Happy birthday Grey Tom! 5 years old today (we're guessing), 36 if you were a human, and the 1 year anniversary of being adopted into our family. Grey Tom is an ex-feral cat whose trust I managed to win enough to catch and bring to a shelter. He's FIV positive, has chronic cat flu, low vision, and limps from a previously poorly healed right hip fracture. When he was first rescued, he'd only ever been handled by me, and was deemed "completely feral and unsocialised", and not suitable to be put up for public adoption. As I'd handled him successfully, the choice was being put down, or coming home with me. And so he joined our family. Since then, he's proven to be a gentle giant, friendly, affectionate, playful, the calmest and most docile of all his siblings, and so loving to every member of his family. He loves his food, his warm bed, and learning to play with toys. But, the average life-span of an FIV positive cat is 5 years from the time of diagnosis, which means a fifth of his life with us is likely already gone, and his birthdays will always be bitter-sweet, and I can't help but feel a little sad today. Our little guy had a BIG day last Friday! He had to have 26 teeth pulled (all of them but the canines) due to an issue with stomatitis. He’s been recovering well, minus the fact that he drools way more now. We covered his tree with a blanket to stop him from trying to jump while he was on heavy painkillers, and then tonight he managed to get up there even with the blanket blocking him, so I guess that means he’s ready to get back to normal. #catsofinstagram #cat #fiv #fivcatsofinstagram #fivcat #fivpositive #orangecat #toothlesscat

Last week, I dropped off 5 cats to get TNR’d but sadly today we only picked up 4. When I trapped this guy, I noticed he had many large wounds all over his neck. The shelter informed us that he had open wounds, 4 broken teeth, and he was FIV + likely from all the fighting. This poor baby was humanly euthanized. Living on the streets is such a hard life for cats. Please spay and neuter any animal in your life. We need to prevent their suffering. 🐾🐾Petite Sweetie! Waiting almost a YEAR for her forever family and it breaks our hearts. Meet Wednesday (FCID# 05/09/2023-145), an all-black lady. 😻Like the Addams family character that she’s named after, she is a bit mysterious but also enchanting. We don’t know a lot about her past, but she is a gentle and sweet cat who loves nothing more than to receive soft pets, be talked to, and play. She particularly enjoys balls of all kinds, especially ones that make noise and the toy where they go around in a circle. 😻Wednesday doesn't mind being picked up for a quick and gentle snuggle with a few head kisses. She is also quite content to approach, rub against your legs, and receive even more pets. 😻This lady loves soft fabrics and settling next to you to as a calm companion. Sometimes she takes a little time to find the most comfortable position, flopping about, which is very funny to watch. 😻She is good in a single cat household, and also seems to adore other cats, often cuddling with them or rubbing against them as they walk around together. We aren't sure if she's met dogs or children. 😻Wednesday is FIV+, but we have found that FIV+ cats tend to be extra lovey-dovey. FIV+ cats pose no danger to humans and can live and play with non-FIV+ cats.
