Pivoines Printemps (spring peonies) from Maison Lancôme is my peony scent for today. There are only three notes listed for this - rose, peony, and pink pepper. It has just a hint of spiciness in the opening and there is some sweetness lying underneath as well. The florals are fresh and a little green, very reminiscent of a lovely spring morning when the blossoms are just opening up. This is a pretty linear scent and has decent longevity. I took this photo last September at the Guerlain boutique in Brussels. My first and only impression of it was: it is a fresh breeze with a very natural scent of lily of the valley, almost soliflore, only a little lighter. Later I began to recognize other white flowers here, but muguet’s solo was still very noticeable. I love the white lily of the valley "skirt" on the bottle, and I'm totally against that ugly green stocking on its neck. Beautiful scent, not a beautiful flacon. My next perfume for #peonyweek is Glass Blooms from @regimedesfleurs. This is an absolute love of mine and I share it quite often. The musky peony/rose combo is accompanied by a grape note making it so unique and giving it just a touch of sweetness. It’s not your average fruity floral and I really can’t recommend this one enough. Another one that I enjoy from Régime des Fleurs is Chloe Sevigny Little Flower, which is a very beautiful rose fragrance. A full bottle is high on my wishlist. Paris Corner - Qissa Pink to od wczoraj nowy nabytek w mojej kolekcji. Zapach określany jako lepsza wersja Yary od Lattafy. Czy faktycznie tak jest? Do pełnego porównania musiałabym odkopać moją odlewkę. Jedno jednak napisać mogę śmiało. Qissa Pink jest dla mnie tym czym miała być Yara a czym nie jest. Niestety Lattafa nie trzyma na mnie wcale, o jakiejkolwiek projekcji nawet nie ma co mówić. Nie wyczuwam truskawkowych niuansów, nie rozumiem zatem porównań do zapachu rożowo-białych cukierków Alpenliebe. Qissa mimo iż w nutach truskawek nie ma (chociaż na różnych stronach nuty nieco się od siebie różnią, a na jednym ze zdjęć produktowych znalazłam flakon w towarzystwie truskawek), pachnie dla mnie właśnie nieco jak truskawkowy shake. Nie da się pominąć wanili którą od samego początku czuć wyraźnie, gdzieś w tle wyczuwam także świeże, młode jabłko. Są to perfumy "puchate", słodkie, kremowe. Niezwykle urokliwe, dziewczęce, niezobowiązujące i radosne. Ot taki "poprawiacz humoru". Nie jest to killer jeśli chodzi o parametry, wypada przeciętnie. Wymaga jednak ode mnie dłużych testów. Ps. Tęcza ktorą widzicie na zdjęciu nie jest filtrem ani narzuconym efektem w programie graficznym. Zatem skąd się wzięła? Padające przez okno mocne światło słoneczne "przebiło" się przez butelkę z wodą, która stała na parapecie. First impression: really bad. Today’s iris scent - New York Liberty from @gustave_eiffel_parfums_ - is a beautiful floral for all seasons. The iris note in here pulls more powdery but there are woody notes and vetiver to keep it from being too delicate, along with pink and black pepper in the opening. I absolutely love this fragrance and I feel like it doesn’t get nearly enough attention. On to another fragrance today containing an iris note - Lancôme’s La Vie Est Belle Iris Absolu. The iris note in here is fleeting unfortunately but upon initial spray it’s definitely present with that lipstick vibe. As it dries it does give way to a delicious berry gourmand note with the DNA of the original LVEB hanging around. So you need to like that scent profile to like this, which I clearly do as this is my third flanker from the line. Forty years ago, in 1984, the Paloma Picasso perfume was launched. A beautiful, powerful, abstract vintage chypre, filled with oakmoss and a complex floral-citrus mixture, one of the divine releases, vividly reflecting a time when perfumers were not limited by barbaric restrictions on ingredients, bottles were not ugly unified, companies did not know what a flanker was and customers weren't looking for specific notes. It was not notes that were sold, but impressions, sensations and feelings. Only two words come to my mind when I think about this fragrance - absolute perfection. Today, when we look at its release, everything seems perfectly done: Paloma Picasso’s personality, Francis Bocris’s perfume, Bernard Kotyuk's and Paloma Picasso's bottle design collaboration, advertisement photo by Richard Avedon … But it was not so smooth. Michael Edwards, author of Perfume Legends, says in his book that at least the scent could have been different. Long story short, from the start, Paloma itself focused mainly on florals. She loved N5, and had in her mind Shocking and Fracas. The iteration that won her approval was also floral, but nothing what she thought. Because of this, she rejected it from the very beginning. However, after using it for a while, she felt in love with it. Shortly before release, the launching company Warner Cosmetics decided to change the formula without informing Picasso, thinking that her untrained nose would not be able to tell the difference, but she realized it and insisted on the version she chose.
