Having a jolly ol' day on set for @parimatch with my boy from the neighbouring hills @endo_mrinal . Thought I'm share a little of the chaos that goes on on set for something that lasts just a few seconds. The amount of smoke we inhaled and the dead feet afterwards, all for the sake of getting that perfect shot. A day of shoot can go on from 12hrs to 22hrs, depending on what's being shot (ad/ series / reality TV/ films) and how long production has the location. It's always a time crunch. No wonder actors focus so much on health and nutrition. You've got to have a decent level of fitness to carry off the movement and the emotion the scene is to convey, all while looking effortless. We went sailing! I've never spent so many hours just lounging on the peaceful waves of the sea, listening to conversations, jumping in when I wanted to rejoin the party. At the end of 2022, just when I had reached Sikkim for Losoong (Sikkimese New Year) I got a message to audition for this ad. So I did. Getting it meant I had to make my 9hr+ journey all the way back to Mumbai, but that's the actor's life - you don't let opportunities slip by. So here's the fruit of my efforts, a dream come true, being the woman wearing Tanishq jewellery and representing the northeast in a non-stereotypical way. The storyline could have fit any ethnicity, so it was good to feel like the beautiful @youknowdiya and I were being shown as people, and not caricatures. 6th April, 2018, three years ago, I decided to take a leap of faith and move to Mumbai to live a life that I was truly happy with. After years of trying to live the life I was expected to, I decided to take a chance on myself and start doing things that truly gave me joy. It was very hard to leave. I honestly can’t believe that time has flown so quickly, but I guess it tends to do that a lot. Sometimes I still feel like a newbie here and I guess that’s understandable when you consider the number of people who are constantly flowing in and out of this city of dreams - new friends, new connections, new cultures and new ways of existing. In these three years it feels like I’ve lived so many phases and chapters of my life already. Who I am today is so different from who I was when I started on this journey, and I’ve realised that some years from now I’ll probably grow and change even more. Some things didn’t turn out the way I had wanted. The pandemic definitely slowed down the pace at which I had hoped to grow my career. However, other valuable events that I could only have hoped for graced my life and so I choose only to be grateful. This last year has been extremely challenging, so I thought I’d take this chance to celebrate this little milestone in my life by covering this song. During my time of transition it really helped motivate me and helped me not give in to the easy path because of my fear of the uncertain. Three years ago when I flew into this city, and smelled the strong sweet scent of fish and sea for the first time, I was scared, overwhelmed and bursting with excitement. Today I’m a lot more grounded in my reality, but somethings remain the same - the city still smells of fish.
