Representation Announcement ✨ Georgia Dymock ✨ GJG is delighted to be representing emerging artist, @georgiadymockart , whose practice borrows inspiration from a variety of art historical movements, notably Surrealism, Pop-Art, Fragmented Cubism, and Neo Classicism. The artist works with the deconstruction of the body into simplified forms, often making her subjects gender-neutral; existing in their stripped-back nature, these forms feel ambiguous and could belong to any time or context. Rendered in bold colours, the voluminous anthropomorphic figures intermingle with geometric shapes and curvaceous landscapes, occupied by further fairytale creatures and objects. Dymock holds an MFA in Fine Art from Slade School of Fine Art (2023), a GradD from the Chelsea College of Art (2020), and a Bsc in Anthropology from UCL (2019). Dymock is the winner of the 2023 Cass Art Prize, and her work features in international private collections as well as in the institutional collection of the Museum Inima de Paula, Belo Horizonte, Brazil. New artworks by Dymock will feature in @artsy Foundations, opening 23rd January 🔗 Read more in bio 🎨 ‘Purple Vampire’ 2023. ‘Love Devil, Shooting Angel’, 2023. ‘Opening Curtains’ 2022 #georgiadymock #emergingartist #contemporaryartist #contemporaryartsociety #contemporaryart #artbywomen #greatwomenartists

‘Submerged, Chewing Emerald’ is British artist Georgia Dymock’s most recent work, where she explores new motifs inspired by Greek mythology. Fantasy, play and the subconscious are themes reimagined in this painting featuring soft yet contrasting hues, whereas the exaggerated eyes reveal feelings of vulnerability and intensity. Set in an imaginative landscape, Dymock’s stripped-back, enigmatic subjects resonate with the psychological weight of Greek mythology, expressing innately human conditions transcending time and context. 📸 Georgia Dymock, 'Submerged, Chewing Emerald', 2023, Oil on linen, 66 7/8 x 78 3/4 in, 170 x 200 cm

EYES CLOSED, WIDE OPEN . . . Georgia Dymock (London, 1998) makes paintings rooted in both digital technology and traditional painting techniques. Her process includes moving from hand-drawing to Photoshop and Illustrator and then finally back to the painted canvas. The British artist paintings which are deeply influenced by polish artist Tamara de Lempicka’s society portraits; are explorations of the reality in which we now live, vacillating between the physical and virtual realms, each serving as an escape from the other. . . . The exaggerated and reimagined curves are playfully inspired by the generous rounded shapes from Picasso’s Neoclassical Period, resulting in the deconstruction of the body into unique gestures. Moreover, the textured background pushes forward the unique physiognomies and androgyny of her characters. As she says, her goal is “to have the effect of airbrushing, but the remoteness of the airbrush technique.” She explains: “I am interested in the ‘imperfections’ that come through the labour of the painterly process, where the paint gathers and hairs of the brush sit on the canvas.” . . . Additionally, Dymock mentions the influence that the writings of Canadian philosopher Marshall McLuhan (1911-1980) has had on her work. With his most famous quotation - and the one most relevant to her - being ‘the medium is the message’ which encapsulates how technological changes in media have profound effects on human perception. Dymock states “I’m curious about the allure of digital aesthetics, I use the versatile nature of oil paint to capture soft, unblemished surfaces that are typical of the digital. Simultaneously, I embrace the disturbances inherent in the painterly process that disrupt the illusion of a clean finish.” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #gaze #awayoflooking #art #artblog #artblogger #artcritic #artcollector #artadvisory #artsy #artlover #artoftheday #artiststowatch #contemporaryart #contemporaryartists #dailyart #emergingart #emerginartist #georgiadymock #femaleartist #painting #figurative #digitalart #jdmallatgallery

Georgia Dymocks’s latest works on show now as part of the Slade School’s Graduate Exhibition, running June 10-18th. “Love Angel, Shooting Cupid”, one of the three works currently on display at Slade School, presents Dymock's distinctive interpretation of Cupid in classical mythology. In this new selection of work, see Dymock’s progression into the surreal through play with scenic backgrounds, contributing in narrative to the works but also lending a dreamlike quality to her compositions. Congratulations, Georgia, on the completion of your Masters of Fine Art. 📸 Georgia Dymock, “Love Angel, Shooting Cupid”, 2023, Oil on linen, 78 3/4 x 78 3/4 in, 200 x 200 cm

Georgia Dymock’s ‘Cropped Red Figure’ beautifully highlights the signature elements of her paintings within the reduced confines of the canvas. With works focusing on the female form, Dymock’s paintings favor the fleshy, the round, and the distorted in reaction to social media’s hyper-filtered understanding of the female body. Through this tight framing, the plump, tubular volumes of her figure’s body is the focal point of the composition. 📸 Georgia Dymock, 'Cropped Red Figure', 2022, Oil on cotton, 59 1/8in x 39 3/8, 150 X 100 cm

6/7/2023, 11:20:22 AM

Created as the antithesis to the hyper-filtered female forms on social media, Georgia Dymock’s figures are often likened more towards characters. With ambiguous features or distortions pulling them away from being purely human, they represent how Dymock “reimagines the body in our post-digital world”. ‘Two Figures with Cat Tail’ is on display in the gallery until June 3rd, stop by to see the composition this London Gallery Weekend. Our hours this weekend will be extended as part of @londongalleryweekend ✨ Friday 10 am-8 pm Saturday 11 am-6 pm 📸 Georgia Dymock, ‘Two Figures with Cat Tail’, 2022, Oil on linen, 47 1/4 x 78 3/4 in, 120 x 200 cm

Georgia's figures are twisted and curled, she uses oil on canvas to capture unblemished and soft surfaces, typically seen in digital media. Georgia questions identity and technology through her work, "I want to reimagine the body in our post-digital world. It seems the nature and reality of a body are continuously brought into question as our activities and lives increasingly occupy online space”. I love how the work's subject seems to bend like clay. #benditlikegeorgia #georgiadymock . . . . . . . . . . #artdealer #artadvisor #artlover #artcollector #contemporaryart #artadvisoryservices #love #artistsoninstagram

“The normal nature and reality of a body is continuously brought into question in the online space. I am interested in the ‘imperfections’ that come through the labour of the process, where the paint gathers and hairs of the brush sit on the canvas.” – Georgia Dymock. 📸Georgia Dymock, 'Parting Curtains', 2022, Oil on Linen, 59 x 51 1/8 in, 150 x 130 cm.
