After 22 years Gant retired at the end of the ‘94 season in the Hooters 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway driving Jackson’s Bandits Last Ride Lumina. Today we said goodbye to our beloved, beautiful, kind, loving ginger boy Harry. He was a kitten of Geoff’s cousin’s cat and was born in May 2010. He worshipped his new big brother Jack and was so caring and attentive to Jack, especially in the weeks Jack battled cancer in 2016. He was devastated when Jack succumbed to it after a 7-week fight and it was then his turn to be big brother to Sidney and Jasper, who are at their happiest when curled up to Harry. He stepped up after Jack died and became even more affectionate, we comforted each other. In 2021-22 when Eloise won a 9 month battle with breast cancer, Harry was the one who glued himself to her side, and helped her through a tough time. Harry started leaving 25% of his food 3 weeks ago we thought he was just eating a bit less through getting older. 2 weeks ago we found a small lump on his tummy. He had surgery to remove it but the vet couldn’t get it all. This week he was eating much less and wasn’t the same Harry. Very quiet, not cuddling up on the sofa or bed like he’s always done. A CT scan yesterday revealed multiple tumours in his liver, spleen and tummy wall and we made the only decision we could, and let him go this morning. He purred all the way to the vet, ate the dreamies the staff gave him and was so brave. The vet spent an hour with Harry, me and Eloise as we reminisced about his life, fussed him, kissed him, thanked him for everything he did for us and told him that we loved him more than anyone who has been in our lives. He left this life so peacefully and leaves an enormous Harry shaped hole that can never be filled. He was the perfect cat, never happier than when snoozing on our chests having a head massage or chin rub. We love you so much Harry, we hope you are playing with Jack on the other side and we cannot wait until the four of us are together again. 😘💔😭 #Harry #HandsomeHarry #GingerCat #TheBest #Soulmate
