So, I haven't been very active on here… and here’s why. I’ve been struggling: in life, with writing, and just in general. I’ve been learning how to bring more balance and peace to my life, but one thing I am still working on is my creative burnout. I have been feeling so pressured (mostly by myself) to get things created and published that I pushed through burnout when I really should have taken a break and recharged. I have literally been a candle burning on both ends for maybe a year now. My writing has stalled, and I just don’t feel that creative spark as often as I used to. So, what does that mean going forward? I’ve been focused on healing and trying not to be so focused on creating for a little while now. With that, I can’t announce when the launch of my current wip will be. I don’t want to promise a date, then feel the pressure again, and repeat the cycle. So for now, Beast of Asheford will be published at some point, it should be my next book to come out (I could change publishing order in the future, but I don’t really foresee that). For now I am going to take my time, write little by little when I feel good and well, and just invest time in my life, family, boyfriend, writing assistant, friends, and whatever else catches my fancy. How do you find your way out of a creative rut? I used to love sitting down in front of my vanity to play with colors and create fun looks. But over the years, I started to lose interest. Even with purchasing new products, watching YouTube videos of my favorite artists, and spending so much time scrolling through different looks on social media, I just couldn’t get inspired. Maybe it was bouts of depression or lack of g.a.f. I couldn’t have cared less. But something has changed. I am started to find that I am being inspired by little things. Things that I may have overlooked before; like the lights that shines through my bathroom windows in the morning and creates this bright abstract pattern on my shower door, or the way wild greenery grows freely. I don’t know but a switch has flipped and now all I want to do is make and create. So I sat down today with some new makeup and decided to create a look. I originally thought I was just going to do a brown smokey eye. I ended up doing something a little different. It is soft glam look, with a defused cut create and these hot red/orange details. I really like how it turned out. Simple but different (for what usually do at least).
