My buddy Jaxon and I have been hitting the long moderate trad routes at #redrockcanyon; I’m finding fluidity, confidence, and re-discovering my love for climbing. So far, we’ve taken down the 6 pitch Olive Oil (5.7), 4 pitch Big Horn (5.8+), 4 pitch Ragged Edges (5.8), and the incredible chimney/cave climb of 6 pitch Tunnel Vision (5.7 R-). Planning on Froglands and hopefully Crimson Chrysalis before it gets too hot. Access to these climbs from home is a gift.

From 19 miles away I took my gracious Vegas hosts @chefvivica & geoff on a 4.6-mile bluebird Sunday afternoon hike of Turtlehead Peak, a 6,017 ft. Peak on the Northwestern mountain skyline of Vegas in the @redrockcanyonlv. With 2,000 ft. of elevation gain this was no walk in the park, but spring was alive on a mild 70 degree day in the mountains. Just off the easel, "Red Rock Canyon,' Waterton National Park. 16" x 16" acrylic on canvas. The distinct red colour which is predominant in Waterton's landscape is actually Argillite which is a type of fine-grained metamorphic rock composed mainly of clay minerals. The best place to see it up close is at Red Rock Canyon which is easily accessible and a great picnic spot. Adventure Recap p2 - the alien landscapes of Red Rock 👽 Red Rock is such a strange and beautiful place. So close to the Vegas Strip, but you might as well be on another planet. It was wild to celebrate New Years surrounded by hundreds of other people, then go straight back into the empty vertical canyon world 🏜️ Pictures not in order, but was amazing to finally hop on Olive Oil (1), MysterZ into Armatron (6, 7, & 8), and get veri scared on Sour Mash 🫣 (3 &4).
