A couple thoughts to ponder from Genesis 3. The fall of man. I feel for Eve; I think she's been largely misunderstood. We look on her with veiled contempt & judgement. We see her as either gullible or devious. What if though, she was neither? What if she was created & placed in a flawless garden, overflowing with every good thing? What if she didn't have any frame of reference for what evil looked like? Or what deception, manipulation, malice looked like? What if all she knew & saw was good? What if her expectations were all set according to her experience with the loving, generous God who created her? 3:6 says she saw what was good, pleasing & desirable 3:7 their eyes were opened (after eating the fruit). She didn't know what we know; that there is an enemy among us. She hadn't seen or experienced his handiwork like we have - until after, & THEN her eyes were opened. All she saw was good. And she wanted to share it. Eve wasn't looking for something bad; she saw the goodness of God's creation & pursued it. Her motives weren't corrupt. When I think of her in this light I feel compassion & understanding. I see a soul with wide-eyed wonder, whose heart was positioned toward generosity. I see someone who saw something good & pursued it; not unlike me at times. But, just because it was good didn't mean that it was meant for her to take part in. God had a "different good" for her to pursue & enjoy. She exchanged God's long-term, unseen good, for the immediately visible good. Both good, but they were not both for her. How often do we get sidetracked by something good, but that isn't our something good? How often do we forfeit the long-term, unseen good, for the immediately visible good? Let Eve's story be a reminder to stay within God's good plan for US; the plan that is specific to each of us. He's not withholding good from us. Maybe the good he has for you is just different than the one you see right in front of you that looks so pleasing & desirable. As I gaze at this picture my son took, I am struck by the imagery of valleys and the mountains that loom before me, evoking a sense of challenge and the urgency to reach new heights. However, upon closer reflection, I choose to shift my perspective. Now, I see a path that winds its way through ups and downs, leading to exciting adventures. I am surrounded by the love and support of people who care about me; all I need to do is reach out to them. I am reminded of the warmth and radiance within me and most importantly, surrounding me, and the purpose I have to bring joy to others. And if you look closely, you might even see the path above, imprinted in the sky. Instead of focusing on the distractions below—where others may try to bring me down with false and treacherous peaks made of sand—I realize that I need to lift my gaze and remember... I was born for this. With the knowledge that I have the presence of something greater than me by my side, I find strength and courage. And maybe you cringe at the word belong as I did, but this was her choice, a yoke she accepted. 👨👧Boaz addresses her as daughter, a protective stance ensuring no one will harm her in his fields. 🫓 After receiving commendation she doesn't puff up with pride but continues in a posture of meekness, bowing her face to the ground. 🥖 A lunch invitation yields Boaz’ provision and the blessing of a full reward - refuge under God’s wings. Her heart’s desire. A day’s labor of gleanings is gladly given to Naomi and when her hunger is satisfied the leftovers are returned. My heart knows there is no ingratitude in this action - there is a hierarchy of need being played out before our eyes. In Naomi’s bitterness and deep grief she provided an out for her daughter-in-laws - according to her culture’s traditions they could marry her next son to keep his family line going. “You are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you.” Isaiah 43:4 God gave me a message to share Sunday morning at our Jewel Warrior conference about being a DAUGHTER. I grew up with an orphan spirit- I never felt like a beloved daughter with God. I saw God as a Judge/IRS Agent/Puritan- who was always judging me and ready to punish me for any failure. I saw myself as filthy rags- not as a Daddy’s Girl who has a place at the table. During my lecture phase at YWAM Chico, God blew open my boxes of who I am and my identity as a daughter of God. I had to choose to believe truths about God- as kind and caring- and then learn to love myself as His special girl. On Sunday, I invited the ladies to DREAM again. When we don’t feel we belong, and we’re not wearing our crowns, we don’t dream with God. But He wants to surprise us- He wants to show us His love in tangible, unique ways that show us HE CARES. I showed the ladies a small portion of my goals list- something I started at my TYRO training in 2016 - which is now 115 goals and I’ve accomplished 32 of them so far!!! They are Kingdom goals and Delight goals- and we can have both!!!! If you haven’t started your Kingdom Dreams and Your God’s Girl Delight Wish List, go ahead and do it. It’s time to dream. January 1st I made a commitment to God and to myself. I promised to give Him the first part of every morning and by doing so, He seems to be blessing the rest of my days with strength and motivation to be the best I can be. I’ve set new goals and I am slowly reaching them. I have been committed to healthy eating and morning workouts and feel the best I may have ever felt.
