Ever had your feelings hurt while reading the Bible? I have. Just the other day I was reading the Parable of the Lost Sheep—the story where the shepherd leaves the 99 to go after the one that has wandered away—and I just felt a little hurt. I said to God, “I’m one of the 99 following you, but I feel so lost and alone in the darkness of this depression. Do you only go after the ones who don’t yet know you? Why aren’t you coming after me? Why isn’t anyone coming after me?” What I heard back in my heart was this: “There’s more than one way to be lost.” But, since my feelings were hurt, I didn’t want to think about this story anymore, and so I moved on to the next thing on my agenda. All day though, and for the next few days, the Parable of the Lost Sheep kept coming back to me, along with that statement—“There’s more than one way to be lost.” So, I decided that what I was feeling and what I felt God telling me warranted some further thought. This week, I want to share with you what God is showing me about how He pursues all of His lost children, regardless of how they came to wander off; He leaves none behind. I know it may only be a tiny twig right now, but one day this twig will be a beautiful eastern red bud. Oh and that beast behind it—-yeah just a few short years ago it was a 4 foot balled baby that we used as a Christmas tree. Now it is a safe haven for birds, chipmunks & squirrels.
