✨ The most magical moment on the Pennine Rally was on the evening of day four so it needs a separate post ✨ After a well deserved pint in Slaidburn with the others, Miles and I started the route for day five, another 25km to Colne. It was about 7.30pm and still really warm. The wind was gently rustling the trees, the flowers in the fields were all beautifully lit and their colours were popping, quaint little houses sat perfectly in their picture postcard villages, and despite everything dying around me (Wahoo, phone, lights, legs), I was just brimming with contentment. The number one value I appreciate most in life is freedom. After a conversation with @frikfrak74 a few months ago, I've realised that the thing I enjoy most about cycling is not just exploring and meeting new people, but it's staying out for hours and hours, sunrise to sunset and beyond. And bikepacking lets you do that. If you can pitch a tent... There is something all-consuming and fully absorbing about cycling in nature all day, and it definitely calms my nervous system. Was two different rides, but can be grouped together. Salter Fell track (Hornby road) offers a ripping gravel track a 'short' ride from Lancaster. The #sonderbikes #transmitter made short work of the choss, ripping past those confused roadies on gravel bikes 😉 The Claughton aerial ropeway is the last of its kind in the UK I believe, linking the clay pit at the bottom to the brickworks in the valley.
