I nearly didnโt go out but after weeks of poor weather and with a hint of brightness through the rain and grey I grabbed my camera and headed out. Todayโs 14.8 mile route along the coast from Whitby to Robin Hoodโs Bay and back, was a brilliant way to finish off a lovely family break in North Yorkshire. The Torridon Mountains Majestic mountain paradise for hikers, climbers, geologists and nature lovers. The mountains of Torridon contain some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland. They are made from ancient Lewisian Gneiss rocks, over 2 billion years old, with the youthful Cambrian quartzites topping the peaks and sandwiching the massive layer of Torridonian rocks that make up the bulk of the landscape. These are composed of a mix of reddish sandstones, conglomerates and mud stones, deposited around 700 million years ago in massive rivers and lake. DID YOU SPOT LADY WHISTLEDOWN? Neither did we but Bath's famous Royal Crescent was used in plenty of scenes during the filming of Bridgerton. If you haven't visited this iconic film location you should. Bring a picnic blanket, sit in the park below, and soak up the atmosphere. My advice would be to pick a sunny spring day before the summer crowds arrive. Royal Crescent is a delightful but short walk from Bath Spa train station. Harry Hut, Chunal Moor ๐บ๐ TP3646 ๐ฉ Elevation- 1443 ft ๐๏ธ 8.2 miles ๐ฃ๐ Chunal Moor is a beautiful area of the Dark Peak. The highest point on the moor is named Harry Hut. So who was Harry and where is his hut? Well, it appears that no-one knows! There is certainly no hut there now, but there are lots loose rocks around the trig point, so maybe Harry did build some kind of shelter there many years ago.
