The stars and stripes would be raised over #NewOrleans, to signal that it was now in Union hands. #didyouknow 👉 On the 7th day in June of 1862 that William Bruce Mumford was hung at the #neworleansmint by order of Union General Benjamin Franklin Butler. Here's the story Following the capture (informal surrender) of the city of New Orleans, a United States flag was placed above the Mint building enraging Confederate residents who felt it was their duty to tear down the flag and replace it with their Rebel flags. The United States flag 🇺🇲 was dragged through the streets, torn to shreds, and spat upon. The flag decorator, William B. Mumford was named in the paper the following day and General Butler would respond. I find the city under the dominion of a mob. They have insulted our flag — torn it down with indignity. This outrage will be punished in such a manner as in my judgment will caution both the perpetrators and abettors of the act, so that they will fear the stripes, if they do not reverence the stars of our banner. Mumford would be convicted and hung from a flagstaff projecting horizontally from the #usmint building in New Orleans on the 7th. 👉After operations began at the New Orleans Mint in 1838 and up until the Confederacy took over the mint in 1861, the New Orleans Mint would produce many different denominations of either #silver or #gold : silver three-cent pieces, half dimes, #silverdollars #gold dollars $2.50 quarter eagles, three-dollar pieces, $5 half-eagles, $10 eagles, and $20 double eagles. Il successo commerciale a lungo termine è ancora leggermente in dubbio a causa di un budget elevato per la natura del film. La tenitura di "Godzilla X Kong" è superlativa. Il quinto capitolo del monsterverse continua a performare al di sopra delle aspettative. Il prossimo grande traguardo potrebbe essere il superamento del record di "Kong Skull Island", fino ad ora successo più grande dell'universo narrativo. Mentre i 600 milioni restano un traguardo difficile da raggiungere. Le teniture di "Civil War" e "Ghostbusters Frozen Empire" sono nettamente minori rispetto al blockbuster dei titani prodotto dalla Warner Bros. Il film della A24 diretto da Alex Garland ha da poco superato il budget attraverso un buon incasso. The Irish Civil War lasted 11 months from 28 June 1922 to 24 May 1923. It was over the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty in November 1921. The treaty formally ended the War of Independence, set the stage for British withdrawal from most of Ireland and the handover of power to an independent Irish government. The Irish Civil War Fatalities Project is the first systematic investigation into the war. Its findings suggest the death toll the conflict which had been estimated at 4,000 may be closer to 1,500. Lunedì in Sala NO SPOILER Recensione Civil War, 2024, regia di Alex Garland Ieri sera ho rivisto quello che per me è sempre stato il più terrificante horror di sempre: Contagion. Sì, certo ci sono molti esponenti del genere che suggestionano e mettono quella strizza che ti fa accendere le luci la notte perché il serial killer inarrestabile o il demone si celano nell’ombra, ma è tutta roba talmente fantasiosa che viene spazzata via nel giro di un paio di giorni. No, Contagion quando lo vidi nel 2011 mi rimase dentro per anni. Mai stato germofobico anche dopo la visione, ma rappresentava una realtà talmente plausibile (oh eccome) e talmente all’infuori del nostro controllo da far venire gli incubi. Nessun rito da praticare per fermare la possessione, nessun colpo mortale per impedire a Michael Myers di attaccare. Solo aspettare e sperare di non venire contagiati. E alla fine tutto ciò che si vede nel film è successo. Tutto. Dalla quarantena al distanziamento sociale, dalle bufale alle cospirazioni, dai vaccini ai no vax. Un film tremendamente realistico che non ha mai giocato di fantasia e 9 anni dopo si è avverato. Però effettivamente dopo esserci passati, ora che l’ho rivisto mi ha colpito molto meno. Ci siam fatti le ossa ormai, no? Ecco, però, che arriva il sequel spirituale di Contagion ed è proprio Civil War. Un film che non spiega tutto per il semplice motivo che non ne ha bisogno. Un film potente, visivamente eccelso e che parla del nostro presente, ma anche del nostro futuro. Non un futuro plausibile, ma certo. Una storia che parla della cultura delle armi e della violenza americane, una denuncia forte e una predizione accurata. Un film che ti resta dentro e lo farà per gli anni a venire, soprattutto per QUELLA scena, per QUELLA domanda. Tu che genere di americano sei? Tuttavia la domanda che ci si deve porre è un’altra ed è quella che fa più paura: Quando? Quanti anni passeranno prima che il film diventi realtà? Ich war oben auf dieser Brücke (die Puente Colgante). Schon ein beeindruckende Konstruktion, aber wenn man oben steht und die Auto- und Personengondel unter einem durchfährt, ist das schon ganz schön wacklig. Die 10€ pro Person / 8€ für Studenten muss man sich überlegen, ob man das machen möchte, aber einmal oben auf der 160m hohen Brücke hat man eine echt weiten Blick. Die Gondel ist im Gegensatz dazu sehr preiswert, wenn man die Metrocard von Bilbao nutzt. Dann kostet die überfahrt nicht mehr als 1€. Oben auf der Brücke bietet es sich auch mega an um ein Industrial Fotoshooting zu machen. An alle Raucher und Biertrinker, der Spaß ist da oben nicht erlaubt... Wer es trotzdem versucht wird durch den Lautsprecher aufgerufen es zu unterlassen 😂😂 Hier noch historische Fakten: Bau und Eröffnung (1893): Die Brücke wurde zwischen 1890 und 1893 erbaut und am 28. Juli 1893 offiziell eröffnet. Zu dieser Zeit war sie eine bahnbrechende Ingenieursleistung und eine der ersten Hängebrücken ihrer Art. Spanischer Bürgerkrieg (1936-1939): Während des Spanischen Bürgerkriegs wurde die Brücke teilweise zerstört, aber später wieder aufgebaut, um den Verkehr über den Fluss Nervión wiederherzustellen. Überleben des Bombenangriffs (1937): Im Rahmen der Bombardierung durch die Legion Condor während des Bürgerkriegs überstand die Puente Colgante einen direkten Treffer, was ihre Robustheit und Widerstandsfähigkeit unter Beweis stellte. Modernisierung und Renovierung: Im Laufe der Jahre wurde die Brücke mehrmals modernisiert und renoviert, um den aktuellen Sicherheitsstandards zu entsprechen und ihre Funktionalität zu verbessern, während gleichzeitig ihr historischer Charme erhalten blieb. Łącznie film zarobił na całym świecie 25 mln - nie jest to imponująca kwota przy budżecie 55 mln, ale film produkowany był przez Amazon, więc wszelkie potencjalne straty zrekompensuje dystrybucja na Prime Video. - Na drugim miejscu chrześcijański film Unsung Hero, który przy małym budżecie 6 mln zaliczył mocne otwarcie 7,8 mln. ⚔️💣CIVIL WAR 💛💛💛💛💛💛 Pendant mes vacances à Toulouse, je suis allé voir ce film dont je n'attendais rien en particulier mais j'ai adoré l'ancrage du motif post-apo dans le réel présenté par cette histoire qui montre sans tout expliquer et qui donne à réfléchir tout en nous emmenant sur un grand huit d'émotions diverses. Bon, c'est très américain, hein, là-dessus pas de doute. On doit cependant ce film au très British écrivain et scénariste devenu réalisateur Alex Garland qu'on a tous connu avec son roman La Plage, dont il a écrit aussi la version portée à l'écran par Boyle. Il a aussi scénarisé l'excellent Sunshine du même réal... Bref, du talent à revendre, avec une curieuse façon de faire du bankable à la fois audacieux et pop. Ici, l'audace réside dans le POV : filmer la guerre dans des USA post-apocalyptiques, pas si éloignés de maintenant, du point de vue d'une équipe de journalistes photo, reporters de l'extrême, aussi dysfonctionnels que complémentaires dans le feu de l'action. Bon, perso, j'ai haï le perso de Jessie (la jeune) même si j'ai compris la philosophie très actuelle se cachant derrière. Et j'ai par contre adoré la prestation enlevée et hypnotique de Kirsten Dunst qui crève l'écran et le hante avec toute la profondeur de son jeu. Un comeback inattendu et fracassant. Une beauté naturelle qui assume son âge véritable (elle fête ses 42 ans demain, soit dit en passant !) au contraire de nombre de ses congénères actrices refaites de partout et qui courent après la jeunesse éternelle, bref, je ne vous apprends rien sur ce thème... Le film m'a totalement embarqué dans sa dynamique de type caméra au poing. Ses séquences les plus dures ont eu un effet maximisé par mon implication émotionnelle mais je ne suis pas sûr que la méthode parlera à tout le monde, d'aucuns pourraient trouver le film ennuyeux ou poseur par moments. C'est une expérience qui se veut individuelle et à laquelle on adhère finalement... ou pas ! Bref, un coup de cœur instantané et inattendu pour ma part.
