Strapping on a snowboard again after 11 years I have to say was laced with trepidation, but I’m so grateful and happy to say that when I felt the snow under my feet again it all came flooding back and I remembered a part of myself that I love so much. And wow! The snow! All the fluffy pretty pow pow ❄️ There was so much if it, we couldn’t have asked for better conditions. . What made it even more special was that we shared the experience with our babes and friend tribe. To ride with and watch our kids take to the snow with excitement and gusto was such a treat. They caught on so quickly and it’s safe to say are now addicted! . I tend to sometimes go awol when travelling, disconnecting and immersing myself into wherever I am, I know you know how that can be so just logging in now while en route home, reminiscing . . Every time I see these beautiful faces on my feed my face lights up . . This is Elise and Matt, you may remember them as one of the couples from the 2019 #channel9 hit renovation show @theblock . . I will never forget the call I got late one night from @artloversaustralia Founder Nancy who originally put us in touch, to tell me Elise loved my work and wanted to purchase some pieces to show in the home they were renovating on the show in Melbourne 🤩 . . I’m seeing circles everywhere lately. Do you find that? Like when your looking into buying something new you keep seeing that thing everywhere . . I picked up a piece of jewellery the other day and on it was a circle. A good friend sent me a picture of a lamp he had made for a loved one and it was a beautiful circle of light, and at night I sometimes dream of walking through circular portals into other dimensions 🤯 . . This piece, one in a body of work, resulted from the deep connection I felt while standing among the richly coloured sandstone cliffs of this remote area in Far North Queensland . . Elim Beach (Thiithaarr) on Guugu Yimithirr country, a tribal nation stretching from River Annan, south of Cooktown, to Princess Charlotte Bay in the north . . Title - The Lost Girl . . This is her story ….. . The girl had lost her way . She had wandered far from the Mothers, the Aunties and the Grandmothers, from the Fathers and the Uncles and the Grandfathers . . She had hidden in the shadow of a rock, and fallen asleep while she waited for her brothers and sisters to find her . Now it was night, and no one answered when she called, and she could not find her way back to camp . . The girl wandered, alone . She grew thirsty, so she stopped by a waterhole to drink, and then hungry, so she picked some berries from a bush. Then the night grew colder, so she huddled beneath an overhanging rock, pressing herself into a hollow that had trapped the warm air of the day . . Finally she saw a crow flying in the moonlight, flapping from tree to tree and calling ‘Kaw! Kaw! Kaw!’. . . The girl followed the crow. She followed him through the trees and over the rocks and up the hills, until at last she saw the glow of her people’s campfires in the distance . . This is what happens when you love on women on the internet!! Kellie and I met @dust_temple a few years ago. I think it was her first exhibition there and I fell in love with her work. What followed was years of us lady crushing on each other over Instagram. She’s done amazing things friends (ahem The Block) and I love nothing more than applauding and cheering women on. I know how much hard work goes into bringing a creative vision to life whilst keeping it all going! So I was blown away a few months back when she reached out and asked if I would like to do an exchange. “She would love to collaborate in my clinic space in support of the women I treat” Honestly I burst into tears. (I get the feels) And THEN as if there wasn’t enough magic going around as we’re chatting in a treatment we discover that we are from the same country town (Mackay) and the same age except we each went to the ‘other’ high-school. Like two little tropical magnets we bumped into each other!! This piece called “Presence” now hangs in the reception of @nuwanaturalhealth.
