I was there for two days with my best friend Ben Nealon (later of Soldier Soldier fame). The Beat and Icehouse supported. We both later loved the Smiths. ☆JEFF BECK/THERE AND BACK ('80) 以前お伝えした76年「Wired」から77年リリースのライブ盤「Jeff Beck with The Jan Hammer Group Live」を挟んだ、ジェフ・ベックのスタジオ・アルバム♪ Ken Scottがプロデュースに関わり、Jan Hammer(k,ds)、Tony Hymas(key)、Mo Foster(b)、Simon Phillips(ds)らがレコーディングに参加(^^) "Star Cycle"を始めとする３曲はヤン・ハマーの作曲で、ラストの"The Final Peace"を除く４曲はトニー・ハイマスとサイモン・フィリップスの共作!! のちにTOTOのボトムを支えるサイモンだけど、個人的にはこういったオープンなサウンドでのプレイの方が生き生きして聴こえるかな(///∇///)

4月20日 今日はライオネル・ハンプトン、ジョニー・ティロットソン、Ken Scott、クレイグ・フロスト 、ルーサー・ヴァンドロス、エイプリル・マーチ、マイク・ポートノイ、ステファン・マーレイのお誕生日。 知る人ぞ知る、知らない人は誰だそれ？な感じのKen Scottをエントリ。 彼が1963年に16歳で就職したのはアビィロード・スタジオ、コアなビートルズファンしか知らない名前であろうジェフ・エメリックと共にレコーディングエンジニアとして修行したんです。 もうカルトの匂いがプンプンしてきたでしょ。 ビートルズのライナーノーツ読んでもジェフの名前しか出てきませんもん。 失礼、もしかすると「サージェント・ペパーズ・ロンリー・ハーツ・クラブバンド」のクレジットには載ってるかもしれないです。 未確認ですが… 持ってる人がいたら おせぇて。 ビートルズ以外の仕事では、プロコルハルムの録音もやってますね。 そしてRockの誕生後、アビィロード・スタジオを離れトライデント・スタジオに活動の場を移したんです。 トライデント・スタジオって知ってますか？ 歯磨き粉じゃありませんよ。 ポセイドンの持ってるミツマタの槍のことね。 このスタジオって、よほどの音楽ヲタクくらいしか知らんとこですね。 しかし、この場所こそがDavid Bowieの生涯にわたる一貫したテーマが生み出されたスタジオなんです！ このスタジオで彼はBowieからの絶大な信頼を得て、懇願されプロデューサーとしてアルバム「Hunky Dory」「Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust」「Araddin Sane」「Pin Ups」をリリースさせたんです。 これらのアルバムがBowieにとって最も重要な転換点であり、ますます脂がのっていく大切な時期になったのは事実ですね。 その裏には、彼の下支えは不可欠だったというわけなんです。 やっぱりわかる人には彼の仕事のクオリティの高さがわかるようで、ジョージ・ハリスンの「All Things Must Pass」をはじめジェフ・ベック、エルトン・ジョン、スタンリー・クラーク、DEVO、ミッシング・パーソンズ、カンサスなどなど挙げるだけでもタイヘンな数の仕事をしてるんですよ。 どんなジャンルにも関係なく、こなしちゃうスーパーマンですね。 今朝はDavid Bowieの映像を集めて年代順に並べたDVD「best of bowie」をリコメンド。 Kenがスタジオワークで作り出したドラム音源をまとめた「EpiK DrumS – A Ken Scott Collection」をリコメンドしたいところですが、今のところ縁がないみたいで未入手ですので、こちらでよろしく。 #KenScott #ケンスコット #DavidBowie #デイヴィッドボウイ #北九州市 #若松北海岸 #ハンバーガー #IkesDINER #IkesDINER #アイクスダイナー
