When depicted enclosed in a circle, it's known as a pentacle. The five points represent the five elements, air, fire, water, earth, and spirit. [there's lot's of other meanings connected to this symbol, being used by the Greeks, Hebrews, Crusaders, Christians, the Occult & more. Far too much to go into here, but it's worth a reading] This piece is approx 3.5cm tall (1.25") including the large loop bail. I've created the pentacle using recycled sterling silver & alongside this are 4 spheres. The back also has a soldered crescent moon motif. 💙UPDATE SOLD💙 If there's a gemstone I love more than any other, it's probably this one! Labradorite. How Mother Nature can create colours like this from a handful of minerals is beyond me! This beautiful blue flash Labradorite pendant measures just over 4cm (1.5") tall incl the circular loop ontop which has small decorative markings. The whole gemstone is surrounded by a decorative frame, little lines hammered into the metal, each one by hand. I use a small hammer which was my Grandfather's (a watch mender), then it was my Dads (an electrical engineer & fixer of everything). It's one of my favourite hand tools. The back of the pendant has a tiny heart handstamped on there too. Another quilt newly hung for Spring. This one is in the sitting room, where I spend a lot of my time. It’s ’In My Garden’, by Anni Downs of @hatchedandpatched This is another quilt that took me a long time to make; about 9 years in all. I initially made this over about a year, using Bondaweb, and machine blanket stitch. Once it was finished, I hated it, and kept taking it apart to see if I’d like it better without sashing, or the pieced squares. I ended up just with a pile of blocks. I stuck these in a box for several years, whilst I waited for inspiration. I think I knew what I needed to do, but maybe didn’t want to admit it to myself. I had to start again from scratch, and stitch every piece by hand. And that’s exactly what I did-so this quilt is hand pieced and appliquéd, and hand quilted. I loved the result, and this marked the start of a new way of making quilts for me. Nothing like a good Before and After! This wall piece was in need of a little Succulent-Scaping. After cutting the stretched out stems and trimming the existing plants for reuse, I reincorporated the trimmed succulents and added new succulent cuttings and moss to fill in the empty spaces. The top is crosscut cottonwood recycled from Colorado that was picked up off the side of the road , the trunk is white oak salvaged from the woods of the farm and ipe legs and table top supports recycled from and old deck project ! Hello March! This piece is 'After the Rain' available and on show at in our SHED exhibition in @antainarts . Every March I take part in #marchmeetthemaker challenge. The first theme is 'story'. It's been a winding road to get me where I am. For those of you who are new I will start at the beginning! . I grew up on my grandparents farm on #slievegullion, amidst stunning surrounds abundant in legends and lore constantly immersed in the story of my people and my place. This inspires and informs everything I do. Losing my mother tragically at 7 and going mute in shock, was made easier by gentle stories and songs, finding solace in the beauty and tenacity of this mountain and those she shelters. The fields, hills and trees are still my solace and playground. It has been my privilege to be the 5th generation to raise my own family under the eaves of our mountain home. . Cushla/Cuisle is the Irish for heartbeat and pulse it was also the name of my mother's beautiful Connemara pony, it seemed the perfect name for my textile art business, as Gullion and all that it entails is at the heart of what I create and where I find my greatest inspiration. I create original wool paintings, translating them into homewares, limited edition prints, lamps and cushions and greeting cards. My work is available on my website from my gallery in Bridge Street Studio and from a wide range of beautiful gift galleries in Ireland, UK, Scotland, USA and Canada . Working in wool, using the plants of the mountains to dye my fibres and include in my work provides a direct link to the landscape outside my door. . Although I am a home bird my work has brought me across the world. Workshops in Holland, exhibitions in America, presentations to dignitaries of Australia, Peace Commissioners. My work is held in private, public and government collections too. . My story is continually evolving, I teach and facilitate felt making. I have become a trained storyteller myself. I am developing some workshops of my own with tangible tourism in mind. I have just taken on a wonderful and exciting role as program director with Sticky Fingers Arts. I love what I do and the people I meet along my storytrail.

Finally finished this unique little piece just in time for the opening season @portlandsaturdaymarket this coming Saturday. Really moving into things that challenge me and bring my skills to a higher level. There is probably around 8 hours of work in this particular piece. I would do a component and then walk away from it for a couple of days and then come back to it. The chain is really different for me and was modeled after a piece I’ve had for a good 20 years.
