While I specifically dressed up in the original tour guide (or plaids) outfit, I specifically wanted to take time to recognize the costuming department at both @disneyland and @waltdisneyworld ⠀ ⠀ The fashions everyone is evoking today to shed light on their cast members of choice wouldn’t be possible without the costuming department. They’re the ones who help design, construct, fit, wash and assign all the incredible outfits seen all over the @disney properties. So much of the immersion of the Disney parks would be lost without this department, but because the workers are “ off-stage” it’s easy for them to be overlooked. However I think they do one of the most magical jobs at Disney because their magic can be seen literally everywhere!⠀ ⠀ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐦𝐞?⠀ ⠀ Fun Fact: working in the costume department at Disney is a literal dream for me! I was originally convinced I would choose Pirates but when scrolling through images from @highschoolmusical I was reminded of Sharpay’s “Bop to the Top” costume and was shocked by how similar it was to a dress I recently got! Happy 60th Anniversary to one of the films that defined my childhood and love of Disney! ❤️🐾🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🐾❤️ 101 Dalmatians premiered on January 25th 1961. I embraced being the weird girl obsessed with Dalmatians when I was in elementary school. My grandma and I would go to the Disney Store each week looking for new merchandise. I loved collecting the Disney plushes (Mattel and Applause brand were sub par but I’d still play with them). The McDonalds toys were a staple to any 90s kid. I know I still have over 101 in boxes in my grandpa’s basement. Those puppies were the first thing I perfected drawing as a kid with their (exactly) 32 spots. I devoured both Glenn Close films and still have the fondest memories of going to Disney World right after the release of 102 Dalmatians. Hollywood Studios (then MGM) had an exhibit with some of the original props and costumes from the 1996 film and I almost sobbed when I saw it. I continue to collect vintage Dalmatians and still sleep under my favorite spotted blanket. Obsession is a light statement. More recently I made Barry Bostwick smile when I told him how much I loved his voice work as Thunderbolt in 101 Dalmatians II and he gave me a signed photo because I was the first person to ever bring it up.
