Evi’s artwork celebrates the intricate detail of the natural world. Evi has provided us exclusively with her new range of tropical parrot cards which we now have available on sale in The Refill Barn. These are printed on high quality watercolour paper. They’re far more than cards and can live on a wall forever! We’re also displaying a few of Evi’s framed butterflygrams in the shop. Evi’s cards have been designed to be framed as artwork, should you wish to purchase these as framed gifts which can also be personalised. We love the opportunties we get to take a moment outside of the shop and connect with visitors from around the globe. Last week we were able to share our toothpowder workshop in a team building event where the participants got to explore a variety of different ways to positively impact their health and environment. From making soap from recycled cooking oil, to making compost from household waste, to creating a multi-purpose enzyme cleaner from fruit and vegetable peels, and of course making their own toothpowder from commonly found ingredients in the home, this group had an amazing and enlightening morning. WILD GARLIC It’s in kitchens all over insta right now…and with good reason! Everyone has their own little sweet spot to forage this fantastic wild ingredient and there are so many dishes which it can enhance 🌱 There’s the obvious Wild Garlic Pesto, Wild Garlic Bread, you can add it to a bolognaise, use it in a curry alongside your spinach and put it in your pizza Passata. We also like to find ways to preserve it for a continued use beyond the picking season. We make ice cubes of oil and wild garlic, we’ve even tried fermenting some this year (success TBC), but the biggest hit has been the WILD GARLIC SALT FLAKES. Ingredients: 500g Dorset Sea Salt Flakes 50g Wild Garlic leaves (roughly chopped - no stems) * In a blender add the Wild Garlic leaves and 50g of the salt. Blend on a high speed into a paste. * Put the remaining salt into a mixing bowl and add the Wild Garlic Salt Paste to it, stir until well combined and it looks like green sand. * Spread the salt mixture out on a baking tray and place in the oven to dry out for 2hrs at 80 degrees C (it can be done in the sun for 8hrs but this isn’t really feasible atm 🌧️). 🌱 Sprinkle it on everything and anything!!! So good on a simple poached egg and toast, but it adds a bit of 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽 to any dish.
