Let's talk blondes, how often are you washing your hair? I get it, it's hard to go long stretches without a wash. Especially if you're working out or you have small kids who are always getting food and other questionable things in your hair, BUT... Your blonde hair NEEDS the oil your body naturally creates. Bleached hair is always going to be more dry than your virgin untouched hair. It doesn't mean that the hair is damaged or over processed, it's just that bleach goes into the hair shaft and actually removes the color molecules from the hair strand. The way I like to think of it is like a sponge, (swipe right for a visual) when your hair is natural or naturally colored its a sponge full of water. When you go blonde, it's like the sponge has been rung out and if your hair is over processed, picture the sponge after a night of drying out. Your hair needs the natural oils your scalp makes to help fill it back up. Over washing it will dry it out, as well as fade your toner. How can you stretch your shampoos? 1. Start small. Try and add 1 day between washes. I know it can seem impossible when you’re used to washing everyday but you can get creative with my ways to stretch between washes. 2. Dry Shampoo. We've all heard about dry shampoo, but a lot of people aren't using it correctly. Be sure to spray it in and let it sit for 5 mins or so before touching it. Allow it time to soak up the excess oil from your scalp without over drying your hair. 3. Try a hat or beanie for the day.
