This was me 17 years ago, I gained a significant amount of weight during my pregnancy with my daughter. My body changed massively and for years I struggled with the way my body looked. I hated looking in the mirror and seeing what I saw. So when I tell you that for the first time in 17 years I feel comfortable in my body I mean every word of it. I’ve dieted, I’ve restricted food, I went vegan and then Keto. I’ve tried EVERY weight loss pill available, I had HCG Shots, I’ve worked out for years and NEVER got the results that I desired. As a results of this I felt absolutely defeated and hopeless. I was even thinking about getting a tummy tuck at one point. Since I’ve started using my cortisol mocktail and GBX Fit, this ALL changed for me. I never in a million years thought this was possible. Though the “invisible/emotional” load of motherhood isn’t new to me, it was great to read this and be reminded of how much executive functioning goes into household management, or just being a woman who exists in this society. My best example is grocery shopping. I don’t just go to the store and that’s it. I have to plan out what to eat and buy, go to the store, and unload and organize. So grocery shopping is arguably a bigger task to keep things running smoothly. And it’s even harder without ‘your village’. Motherhood is isolating. But this book gave so many more examples of where moms (or women!) feel the pressure to be more efficient and consequently feel crushed by unrealistic expectations. Some may be self imposed expectations, but many are societal influence 🖤 And we are all internalizing this.
