Spring is back, and so am I! In the next 30 days, we've got two big UP trips coming up, my annual out west trip which will include Yellowstone, The Grand Tetons, and a sprinkling of deserts this year. 3 Lower Peninsula waterfalls to add to your northern Michigan itinerary. These three can all be visited within a day… road trip anyone?!?! 1. Bayfront Park Fall in petoskeyarea - this man made waterfall comes from water drainage that runs under the road above it and into a creek. While here, you can pack a picnic to enjoy near the foot of the falls, or explore the other gorgeous scenic parks nearby. When we visited, we parked in the Sunset Park lot and climbed the stairs down. 2. Ocqueoc Falls is located in the northeast lower peninsula about halfway between Mackinaw City and Alpena. It’s located within a State Park of the same name with its own seasonal campground, which are first come first served. Ocqueoc is considered the only universally accessible waterfall in the US and has a ramp down to the fall viewing site. There’s also an accessible entrance into the waterfall swimming area. 3. Waterfall Picnic Area in Boyne Falls - This little waterfall area is located at a small roadside park along US 131. There’s enough spots for 3 maybe 4 cars and a picnic table. You can find signs of the 45th parallel in cities such as Leland, Atlanta, Sutton’s Bay, Mancelona, Bellaire, Gaylord, and Alpena, throughout the state. You can’t see it. But it marks a geographic place on the globe. If you stand on one side of the 45th Parallel, you are closer to the equator. If you stand on the other side of the 45th Parallel, you are closer to the North Pole!

The Meadows at Millennium Park - Universal Boardwalk Although I have posted infrared photos of this bridge in the past, those were with a reliable Canon 60D converted to 590nm, however it was getting aged at 13 years, and the APS-C sensor was not as good as it once was. Images were no longer as clear as you can get with today's technology, and I'm not sure why other than that camera had taken like a billion photos. This was taken last week with my new (well, new back in January) Canon R8 full frame, full spectrum camera, with a 720nm filter. Every camera sensor has its quirks from one model to the next, and it really stands out more with infrared photography. You really have to learn the differences to get good results. I think I'm finally at that point with the 720nm filter, as well as the IR Chrome, and the 850nm. The 590nm is frustrating since it was super easy on my past two cameras, but I'll get there. Eventually.
