Coming back to nature brought me back to mySelf… which brought me back to God… . The wonder, the mystery, the majesty… all the things that so many years ago had been lost in the chaos of life; the busyness of jobs, the craziness of my schedule… there were glimpses… every morning getting out to the beach just after sunrise to practice beach volleyball with my friends… those hours each day spent in the sand, in the sun, with friends, are what kept me going when I felt more disconnected to myself and to life than ever before. . My journey brought me to SE Asia 8 years ago. A 3 month submersion into nature and experiencing Life again… raw, unadulterated, irresponsible, unscheduled, unplanned, life. It lit my spirit… and I was led to the Virgin Islands… a beautiful stint of my life that involved hiking, diving, playing beach volleyball, working at a beach bar, teaching yoga on the beach under the palm trees, and dancing outside under the moon. 🌕 This was my homecoming. I sat at my little church on St. John, in a gazebo on Hawks Nest Beach, and as the 40 of us sang Amazing Grace to an acoustic guitar with the sea breeze blowing on our skin, I knew I was Home… not in the physical sense; but that I was exactly… mind, body and spirit… where I was meant to be. . Every walk to an overlook led me back to myself more and more. This photo is the culmination of multiple dreams. I dreamt about this tree 3 times 7.5 years ago. When I finally stepped out of fear and booked my first retreat in Costa, we got out of the car to tour the property… and there it was… the tree in my dream from 4 years prior. . Puis je me suis dit : et si la nature était bel et bien la meilleure cure ? 🩵 Du bleu au vert, de l’océan aux rizières, des vagues aux palmiers, sa définition diffère. Si vous me demandez lequel des deux facettes je préfère, je vous répondrais que je les aime autant. Elles se complètent à la perfection. À chaque version ses raisons. The trees are my friends ꩜ When I sit beneath them or hug them tight they soothe my aches and pains and worries. I try to get to know the ones I see regularly here in London and in the sacred lands of Wiltshire near my dad’s. I find out their names and run my fingers around their beautiful patterns. I see the eyes that watch from the grooves of the bark and I touch their buds, leaves and flowers. Feeling the aliveness in my hands. I ask for a transference of wisdom in exchange for all my human troubles and they are always receptive and ready to help. I sense that they really don’t mind me asking them to take the heaviness from me - like during a medicine ceremony where one can purge on the grass and let Nature absorb whatever wants to be released - as the land holds the power to alchemise and not take on the energy. If I listen hard enough and am quiet enough I can hear some sort of whispered invitation. To be still, to not rush, and to trust the seasons that will move and change me. The sweetest therapy. They are the guardians and their beautiful eyes can see us 𓁿

I left my phone & camera behind, untethered. because I needed medicine. my heart was sick, I was filled with fear and grief, I was frozen, my spirit was weak. I had caught the cultural pandemic of constricted despair & confusion which is raging & claiming the lives of millions, young & old. When I emerged from my bath in starlight and animal sounds and sea at night, from the breathing trees, from laying my body on the earth to gather her dreams... Natural remedies for the homesteader: Fermented raw honey and garlic: Raw honey and garlic both are anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial agents. When fermented together they are a powerhouse for the immune system. You can take daily to prevent sickness or at the first sign of symptoms to slow them. 🧄To make simply peel your garlic and cut large cloves in half. Fill half the jar. 🍯Pour raw honey over the top covering garlic by 1-2 inches. Leave a few inches of headspace as well as this is an active ferment and you don't want a mess! 🧄Place lid on tightly and and flip upside down a few times to ensure garlic is fully covered. 🍯Store away from direct sunlight. You will need to flip daily to keep the garlic coated so it doesn't mold and burp daily - slightly loosening the lid to let gases out. 🧄After 30 days it is ready to use. The honey will be a bit darker and have a thinner consistency. 🍯Do not use any metal (lids or spoons) as this can ruin the fermentation process! Pine needle and bark tea: Another anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and vitamin rich powerhouse. I was slacking on my honey garlic and I got sick. Not mad about it though because I've been wanting to try this tea. Pine is loaded with vitamin C and is great for your sinuses and nasal inflammation. It is a great option for a cold and even seasonal allergies! 🌲 To make simply steal a branch from a pine tree. Wash the needles and the small twigs for your tea as the bark is also beneficial. 🌲 Add them to a pot of water and put on low heat for 3-4 hours. You do NOT want to boil this as you will ruin the vitamin C. 🌲Strain and enjoy! I couldn't believe it, I was breathing out of both nostrils and blowing my nose significantly less.
