Last week, I had the pleasure of attending a MyEO event at Peter's house. His wife, an artist, taught us how to use pastels; it was a lot of fun! After that, Liz got us tickets to a night to support a local potter who uses his gift to support reconciliation in our community. Also, I got to see Clarence's office while we were there. Sid was a unique, quiet, profound force in North Carolina pottery and the founder of Cedar Creek gallery and working studio with his wife, Pat. Having met at Penland just after I got out of grad school, he invited me to come and work there. After I moved on to Floyd and then to Asheville, he continued to carry my work in the gallery through the years, always offering his insightful observations, and became a much valued friend who is dearly missed.
