My kitchen is a mess of flower clippings but my house smells amazing 🌺 I’m hosting my daughter’s bridal shower tonight, and I purchased 8 dozen roses and a few bundles of other flowers to make my own vases. I always said, in my next life I’d love to own a florist. ⬇️ After being stabbed by rose thorns, and redo-ing one of the vases four times I’m second-guessing that idea 😆 The main flower arrangement I was creating (the big one) is apparently in a vase style that’s one of the most difficult to design an arrangement in. ⬇️ I didn’t know that until hours after I started and ended up on YouTube trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. This is exactly how it felt the first time I started showing up on camera for my business. No one showed me how to do it, I just jumped in and learned the hard way that my lighting was not good, the sound could be better, etc….all from hunting and pecking all over the Internet. Fast forward a few years later, and I’m helping speed up the learning curve for other women in business to feel confident on camera so they don’t have to go through that. A few pics from the last afternoon in the dahlia patch of me pretending I’m a florist. I’ve traded in all the beautiful colours and soft flowers for dirt, mud and tubers. All part of it. I actually do love having a week long task. Something about having 100% of the job ahead of you, then 80%, then being half done (where I am today), then eventually seeing the finish line and ultimately completing the job that gives me some fulfilling quality purpose. I love zoning out on the task while listening to music or podcasts and muling my way through the repetition. It also gives me great clarity for other aspects of my life. Days-worth of time to think and meditate on ideas, dream shit up, and get excited for stuff to come. Last night I dreamt about splitting tubers for my entire sleep now I’m gonna dig and split tubers all day. #notaflorist

It doesn't matter if it's an event servicing 50 people or a weekend servicing nearly 1000 people like the week before this one. Everyone gets the same quality and effort from our team. The same cannot be said for any of our houses but you can't have everything, not all at once! We were beyond stoked to help Cansu and Sasni with their intimate wedding. We were allowed in at 11am Saturday and disassembled at 7.30pm Saturday Night. All florals designed by us in store based on 2 x polar opposite inspo images that the bride sent to us via email. #notaflorist but we're pretty thrilled with the crossover effort. Gen may have gotten the same images and vibe from them as we did because that cake from Cake Genie was indiviually even more amazing in person but matched our styling to perfection. Gotta love it when a plan comes together!
It blows our mind that we had never styled an event at Young Aussie Hotel Bundaberg before last weekend. What a neat little space they have. While we were there our brains went crazy with possibilities, though it'd be hard to beat the colour palette Amy and Martin chose for their reception. Gosh we love a white wash rattan charger plate with a pale pink napkin. All florals made by us... They sat there in the showroom all week and we just couldn't wait to put them on a table! #notaflorist but we are pretty proud of our efforts and Amy was so happy she sent us a lovely note the evening before when she stopped in to check it out!
