I never get tired of macro shots.
Some roadside attractions are gimmicky, but also really cool! ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ Did you know there are only three trees in the world that you can drive through? And if you guessed that they are all in Northern California, you are right!! ๐ค The northern most one in Klamath I didnโt make it to in part because I was already driving a lot on this trip, but also due to nearby wildfires affecting the area. ๐ฅ The central one is along Avenue of the Giants in Myers Flat and I did stop here but opted to only pay $4 to walk through it rather than drive. It was still fun to experience and I got a nice video of the folks behind me driving through, which they were super thankful for! ๐ I saved my โdrive thoughโ for the 2,400 year-old Chandelier Tree in Leggett, which looked the most aesthetically pleasing to me with its box-shaped cut. It set me back $15 bucks but I met other like-minded quirky types including the nice man who sweetly took a video this time for ME driving through! ๐ฅ๐ The ticket agent told me the largest vehicle that heโs seen make it through was a Tahoe! Apparently lots of folks scrape their windows up so I folded mine in to be safe! There are also some trails and a little gift shop on the private property where you can buy mass-produced souvenirs if thatโs your thing. Have you ever driven through a tree before? It was definitely worth the cost and Iโd for sure recommend it if you have kiddos!! Happy road-tripping friends!!! ๐ฒ๐๐จ
While exploring the PNW, I stumbled upon the inspiration for Disneyโs Haunted Mansion!! ๐ป๐ค๐ฆ Many of my trips are outdoor-based, but I also love finding those fun roadside attractions you might otherwise drive past unknowingly. So I use Roadside America to check out whatโs nearby and discovered this treasure! Just a few blocks off the Pacific Coast Highway, the Carson Mansion was built in the 1880โs and is now a private members only club. Itโs was awesome to see this place in person since Disneyโs Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite attractions. Thereโs also an ornate Pink and White House across the street built as a wedding gift! ๐ Do you have a favorite roadside attraction?Please let me know so I can add it to my ever-growing list! ๐ Happy travels friends and remember to get off the beaten path and find those hidden gems! ๐๐
