Song Lab with Barnaby and the Butcher Duo was kinda sweet. It was also mis-named. There was no Barnaby (some mumbled excuse or other). But we did have Sunny Gable… And just wow. Her song writing tells stories we didn’t realize we needed, or that we knew we needed but were avoiding, or that we wish our world didn’t need quite so much but glad she’s reminding us. Our hearts ached a bit. And her voice… geeze, Louise , it soars. Then she brought Syndenn Sweet on stage and we just gave up. So we missed our Barnaby but we’re pleased with ourselves to have had Sunny on the calendar. We’re very pleased with ourselves for this idea to play regular Crooked Tooth gigs. The beer, the bar, the Owners, the bartenders, the patrons… makes our hearts ache even more. We’ll be playing regular once a month Thursdays for a bit. Folk me, that was a good weekend. Barnaby and the Butcher went for it last weekend for our first time at the Tucson Folk Festival. We did all right. We’ll likely do it again. If you’ve been wondering about us (we wonder all the time) we got a bit distracted by St. Patrick’s Day and our identity crisis as a Celtic band. Then along came the Folk Festival and we experimented with a folk phase (pholk phase?).
