As designerly as I try to be, every so often the urge strikes to head to southern Missouri and eat funnel cake at Silver Dollar City, play mini golf with dinosaurs and fill up on Osceola cheese. We filled our quota this past weekend with a short road trip to Springfield and Branson. If you love leaves and pumpkins and all things Fall, well guess what, Branson loves it more and takes that love to 11. The Fall decorations alone at Silver Dollar City were worth the ticket price. Beyond SDC, we rounded out the trip with world class mini golf, tasty pizza at Mellow Mushroom, a stop for “essentials” at Dick’s 5 & 10 and trying “cronuts” (croissant + donut) for the first time at Parlor Doughnuts. Oh yeah and I may have bought Moonshine. The urge to head south has subsided but I’m sure it’ll strike again. Day 4 Adventures part 2: I made a stop at the Lake of the Ozarks State Park and sat on the fishing dock, just enjoying the peacefulness. Came across some old friends. I couldn’t leave without stopping at the Rocky Top Trailhead. Took a walk down to the lake. And course I made a stop at the Ozark Distillery to add to my collection. My meal today. Day 4 of the 40 Day Sugar Fast. Cocktail shrimp without the sauce, leftover air fried green beans with some garlic butter added, #osceolacheese shoe string cheese, and tuna salad made with @wildplanetfoods tuna, 2 boiled eggs, and @primalkitchenfoods avocado oil mayo (the only mayo that I feel meets my diet criteria). I had coffee, tea, and water with added electrolytes to drink. @wendy_speake 40 Day Sugar Fast book Day 4 asked at the end of the day's devotion, "what is your sweetest nemesis." I think for me it is cheese. It's about the only thing I eat these days that I crave when I am not truly hungry or feel like it's a treat when I eat it. So far these last 4 days I feel like I have done really well staying within my diet rules, and I have watched very little TV this week. Last night I took a bit of a break and watched a cheesy Hallmark movie but I finished the Day 3 devotion in the book and read about 15 minutes in the Bible. The rest of this week (including tonight) I have done extended Bible reading after the kids and my husband went to bed. For the first time (probably ever) I no longer find myself heading into the kitchen late at night looking for something to satisfy me. I have it right beside me in the Bible.
