Create the community your heart desires. For years I prayed for genuine community. Who woulda thought I’d find it through photography? God gave us a vision of a faith filled community within the photography community where women can come together, learn from one another, share life and business experiences, share about our faith and walk with God and build authentic relationships. When God speaks, you listen. Even if you don’t know exactly what to do, what the details will look like, how it will all pan out. You walk in faith and do it. I’ve come to realize that there was such a huge need and deep hunger for something like this for so many women. Everyone we’ve met has said the same thing. That they have been praying for something like this! Community. Fellowship. Faith filled friendships. Photographer friends. My heart is overflowing with joy tonight as I reflect on the goodness of God and how He always provides. He knows the desires of our heart and His plans are always perfect. No one inviting you to join them at their table? Create your own table and invite someone to sit with you. Need a friend? Be a friend. Praying for community? Keep praying. God hears your prayers and He will provide. Nervous about meeting strangers? Don’t be! We all have had to push past the nerves and get out of our comfort zones. Vulnerability isn’t easy. Stepping out of your comfort zone isn’t easy. But closed mouths don’t get fed. And you’ll never have the community you’ve been praying for unless you step out and make the effort. This weekend I took a bit of a staycation with fellow family photographer @annamesenphotography If you look at our work you’d say we are different, yet similar, and also…. Aren’t you competition? Maybe? Probably? Not really? Do I care? Nope! I drive around so many amazing neighborhoods when I visit clients and think…. There are so many homes filled with families that all can tell an amazing family story. How can I get in and help them tell their story!?! Well, I wouldn’t be able to do that on my own, there needs to be more humans who care about others and want to tell stories as well, she is one of them. 🤍 Friday we caught up and talked and worked until the evening hours. We planned and encouraged each other. Saturday was spent quiet and working, with alarms set to remind us to bounce ideas and offer more encouragement. It was spent showing each other projects we were working on and also aligning what we do to help streamline our own businesses. We took a short walk around #plazamidwoodclt , grabbed dinner, and went home to work more until bedtime. Sunday morning we works some more until we couldn’t (bc it was a strict 10 am “get out” of the @airbnb ), but that was okay bc I was ready to get out on a hike with my family for some @geocaching fun. I had the best time photographing my beautiful fellow photog friend @k.madrigalphotography and her hubby Orlando for their anniversary! I mean look at them! In May I had myself a work-cation. I flew into Denver and drove over to Salt Lake City thru the Rockies . In sat lake I met up with @abby.shepard.photography who j had worked with in 2021. She had moved out to Denver and should definitely go check out that story on her insta. Anyway I had reached to see if she had any second shooter jobs locally ans she said “no but I do have 2 weddings all but back to back. You could make a weekend of it” and that’s what I did.
