happy philo Friday yall! 🪴 a month or so ago I switched one of these Florida ghost mints into a semi-hydro set up. I hypothesized that the plant in semi-hydro would take off quickly and outgrow the one in soil. the problem with this experiment was that I did not do a good job of controlling the variables lol I watered the one in soil much more than I refilled the reservoir of the other one and it sat empty sometimes. so now the soil ghost mint has outgrown the one in semi-hydro but I am not completely confident that it is due to the set up rather than the difference in care I will have to step my care game up on my semi-hydro plants to make this experiment more equitable and stable anybody else who makes nutrient solution for their semi hydro plants slack on making it? sometimes I slack so hard that I just ask my partner to make it for me so that I can finally take care of my damn plants lol this is definitely an adhd thing where sometimes tasks just seem so impossible or I am wildly unmotivated to do the simplest thing and I am grateful to have a partner who understands that and will do tasks for me when my mind makes a mountain out of molehill he is always there to make a molehill out of that mountain :’) #philodendron #philodendronfloridaghost #philodendronlovers #plantlove #plantsmakepeoplehappy #houseplantsociety #plantlife #plantslover #ikeagreenhouse #monsteralover #ikeagreenhousecabinet #plantlovercommunity #philodendronfriday

What's up everyone, Nick and Opal here. Just wanted to say that we're still here, just haven't been posting as frequently as usual. That's partially due to getting bored from reposting the same ol lessons about horticulture. There's only so many ways to word something before you're just saying the same thing over again. But it's also partially due to SPRING BEING HERE ! Those of you who've been here for years, know that Opal and I love getting out in the woods! 🌲🐺🌲 Regardless of how frequently I post, there's hundreds of posts in my highlighted stories for those of you who are still learning all the various topics within horticulture... and with those posts, are their comment sections, that contain thousands and thousands of really helpful questions and answers. So for those who are new here, read as many of those posts as you can. I'd suggest going through my highlighted stories, rather than going post-to-post down my page. (but you can still make your way down my page, because there's lots of posts that AREN'T in my highlighted stories) Horticulture is one of those things where once you learn it, you know it, and you don't need me to teach you the same thing over and over again. Before I go, I'd like to call out instagram for unfollowing people from my page. I've had multiple people mention recently that they somehow weren't following my page anymore, even though they never physically pressed the "unfollow" button. Makes sense, considering I reached 38K follows in the first 5 years of being on instagram, but haven't been able to break 40K (an additional 2K) in the last 4 years. Sorry Zuckerberg.. Look after the land and the land will look out for you. 🌱 yesterday was Earth day and I didn’t get a chance to share how our Spring garden is doing. Everything is growing so well. I will actually be using lettuce from our garden today for our taco salad. 🥰 We are currently growing collards, cabbage,bellpeppers, onions, tomatoes, blueberry bush, lemon trees, lime tree, Aloe Vera, and a pineapple.
