One of the most important poets in the 20th century, Gwendolyn Brooks (1917-2000) paved the way for greats such as Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, and many other women poets of color. She was the first African-American woman inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters. She was the Poet Laureate of the state of Illinois and also served as the poetry advisor to the Library of Congress. Sometimes evolution looks like everything falling apart before coming back together in a more soulfully aligned way than ever before. Entraining to the embodiment of my medicine and mission has meant entering portals of alchemy where the structures of identity, life and business are dissolved, Surrendering to the Divinely-ordained chaos as Truth rearranges my reality. Relationships, home, roles, identities, beliefs, offerings, the foundations of health and service- All these inner and outer tether points have gone through the purification so a life reflecting the next expression of becoming can be birthed, And new containers to channel this expanded expression can be created. As the process of initiation goes, it’s guided by God’s intelligence, and it takes as long as it takes. It’s a wilderness quest, learning to see in the dark and meet the medicine journey of reality as Destiny unfolds beyond the mind, And it demands the *deepest* devotion to Divine Will, to a faith forged in the heart, To just taking *each next step*, To meeting each moment as a mastery practice, surrendering to the Mystery and bowing to the bigger story of Creation beyond comprehension. I love this little life. This little big life. This short yet "long and wide" life (as my Spec @christina.grows says). This life that I've been entrusted with. 4/29 Word of the Week: IMAGINE As soon as I pulled IMAGINE from my dish of cards this morning, I felt the connection between our WOWs of the past few weeks. I knew immediately a message was brewing, but as happens with Creative Flow, what I wanted to say was still in process, not quite ready to be written. I looked back in past IMAGINE posts, and found the words below that express what I want to say and where I am in my life right now. It is a comfort during changing times to know that I have passed this way once (or many times!) before and that I am connected to Divine Guidance and Magic even when I don't yet see its fruit. I hope these words are supportive to you on your creative journey through Art and LIfe. 🌱 Our WOWs over the last few weeks ~ CONNECT, SHINE, and now IMAGINE ~ have been telling me a story, illuminating a path that I know deeply. In the Creative Process there is Time to Create, time to express and explore what has been brewing below the surface. This is what most of us equate with Creativity - the Doing of it. 🌱 Equally as important to the expression is the incubation, what I call percolating. The place where we give over to our IMAGINATION, and let what we aspire to bring into outer form, gestate, and weave together disparate strands of Magic. ✨ This IMAGINING place can feel absent, like nothing is happening. Hello 46! The Earth Mother gifted me some more mushrooms in the enchanted grove this morning for my birthday - don't they look magickal in the early morning sun? Naked talk - The word "P.us.sy" has been used so heavily in slang, derogatory and less than mentalities and talks that often when we hear this word we shy away, we screech, we discust, we laugh, we get embarrassed, we look down upon and so on... This word is used to degrade, to shame, to be seen as weak and less than... while in fact, P.ussy is the exact opposite. P.ussy is Goddess. Why is it that the very thing that actually births humanity on Earth has been dressed up to act as a shameful and silly nickname of sorts or as a weak insult? Why is that? In fact - every single thing that comes from P.u.ssy has been shamed, hidden, cast out, made to feel embarrassed by and ignored and turned into a robotic machine... menstration, arousal, labour, birth, org,asm... Why is it that the most powerful source on the planet has been rehearsed and imprinted in us to make us feel dirty, shameful, guilty, cursed etc..? Because...P.u.ssy is THAT f.ucking powerful. She is the Goddess in form. She literally creates life. And the degree in which a dear woman is rooted and connected to P.ussy is the degree in which she is living and connected to life and to her own power. This is my work in this lifetime. Here's the thing ⬇️ If you are seeking a deep, devoted and intentional partnership that can truly go the distance in service to God... Then orientating yourself towards Love must be a central tenet of your life and relationship. You can't have a union that truly expands and satiates you, that reaches new heights and profound depths, if you're intent on clinging to an idea about yourself, your partner or your reality. You see... 🥀 Your union is the alter... and your ego is the sacrifice ⚔️ And thus... You must be willing to die and be reborn in service to Love - over and over again 🔥 Your intimacy will require your vulnerability. Your vulnerability will require your humility. Your humility will require your loyalty to Love. There are, of course, exceptions and nuances. This is a general principle of cultivating conscious relationships and you must use your own discernment within your own relationships to know how, where and when to apply it. Here are a few pointers: ➡️ BOTH partners must value & apply these principles for the relationship to be truly sustainable and healthy ➡️ Love is not synonymous with being an unboundaried doormat ➡️ Self-love, sovereignty & your relationship with God is a fundamental foundation on which the above can be built; without this foundation, you will likely fall into co-dependency & karmic patterning VERY quickly ➡️ Sometimes, even when all of the above is integrated and applied, a relationship may still dissolve and that's ok ➡️ This principle can apply to all relationships, not just romantic or intimate! There was a child inside of me, waiting for someone to show her the chapter and verse where her Goddess awaits. One day, that child receives her dream. Sometimes all it takes to liberate us, finally, from one story into another is reassuring our subconscious mind that the thing we’ve been yearning for (in this case, Goddess) has been with us all along. The beauty of rediscovering the ancestral Divine Feminine in our Abrahamic religious tradition(s) ... is that we also reclaim our permission to be both fertile and ferocious. This is the pattern we see with well-known Mesopotamian goddesses like Inanna. Hers is a permission to be “fully feminine” that most of us never received in religion. The reality is, we do have an Inanna of the Abrahamic Covenant … and Her name is Shaddai. We get the full spectrum of the feminine experience in our own ancestral goddess, but no one ever explained it to us that way. We have permission to be both Fertile and Ferocious. We get to cultivate BOTH sides of ourselves. It’s a privilege and a joy as well as a deep dive into the mysteries of the “dark” feminine … the womb-led sovereign self. Of course, being ferocious doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be loud or that you have to be scary.
