Today Iβm using pictures from a scene from #rocketmanmovie that is based on this topic as a starter to share with you my thoughts on the tension between social media and privacy, or the question of when criticism becomes hate speech and who decides that. Both wonderful actors involved in this scene have consistently turned their backs on social media. #taronegerton even completely deleted his account and #maddenrichard no longer posts anything unless it is professionally related. In both cases, we can certainly answer the question βwhy?β by saying that their success and being βfamousβ also resulted in their privacy being massively violated. Both young men are more sensitive and less extroverted types of people who value their privacy very much. This should clearly answer the question for real fans as to whether it is okay to share paparazzi photos: No! This leads to another thought: to what extent is criticism of a public figure acceptable? For myself, I answer the question by saying that I always refer to the behavior being criticized, and not to the person as a whole. I usually try to justify this criticism. Criticism may be clear, direct and precise, but never disrespectful or even degrading and certainly not hate speech. And this is where things get weird : on the one hand, the fans of the person whose behavior you have criticized and which you have always declared to be your opinion attack you and insult you in the worst possible way (does a celebrity really want that kind of fans?) and on the other hand, I canβt help but get the impression that FB and Insta have now introduced an algorithm that no longer allows you to criticize certain celebrities at all. That almost borders on censorship. I am firmly convinced that the major platforms have a lot of catching up to do here! What is needed is not more AI, but rather people who look at the whole process, much more transparency about how certain decisions are made and support that needs to be improved by 100%! And it needs fans who not only behave respectfully towards their crush but also interact with others in a friendly manner. That was my βword for the weekendβ todayβ¦ and have a nice weekend everyone!

Our very beautiful, very kind, and very talented man, on the blue carpet at the UK Premiere of Rocketman, 20th May 2019. My friend and I went to see Rocketman Live, at the Royal Festival Hall in London yesterday. Having seen Rocketman many times, it was great to experience a new take on the movie. πππ Mind you, the journey to the Festival Hall could have been better ... I always alight at Blackfriars Thameslink and then walk along the south bank of the Thames from there but, due to engineering works this weekend, trains were terminating at St Pancras. πππ As a result, I decided to take the Victoria Line to Warren Street, then change onto the Northern Line to reach Waterloo. I hate travelling on the tube. πππ I met up with my friend at the BFI ... we regularly pop in for mocha or whatever, not to see a movie! I took the same route home. The only time I sat down on my journeys was between Waterloo and Warren Street on the way back ... although I did have the offer of a seat between St Albans and St Pancras on the way into London ... I did thank the kind young man ... but am I really that old? π€π€π€ And I could have sat down on the return Thameslink journey, but didn't think we'd have to wait for so long before our train departed from St Pancras! πππ Anyway, evidently I am old and creaky ... as I was barely able to bend down to take my tights off when I got home or wash my feet in the shower! π±π±π± And I woke up with very painful cramp in my right foot, around midnight. That's dehydration! Lovely day out with my ma @janetsprake to see @rocketmanmovie Live in Concert at @southbankcentre. Mum has loved @eltonjohn's music for decades and thanks to her influence I grew up loving it too. This film always hits hard for me, not least for Taron Egerton's performance (should have got an Oscar nod), but also because I really identify with Elton's journey through tough times, not least our shared experiences with bulimia. The orchestra were fantastic. Picking up on the topic of my post yesterday, two works that I have on DVD in my shelf were missing: #eternals with #richardmadden as #ikaris and #apromise with #maddenrichard aka #friedrichzeitz But why am I putting these two films in one post? They have absolutely nothing in common! Apart from the fact that Richard played one of the leading roles in both films. I know Iβm treading on thin ice with the following. Because I claim that in both films the chemistry between the portrayed lovers Ikaris&Sersi and Friedrich Zeitz&Charlotte Hoffmeister was not right. Was it the direction? In the case of Eternals, was it because Richard and Gemma were too good mates in real life to be able to credibly portray a couple in love? In any case, both female leads acted somewhat stiffly and awkwardly and as a result there was no spirit, as there was in #hopesprings , #rocketmanmovie , #bodyguardbbc , #ladychatterleyslover , #citadelonprime #gameofthrones , #medicimastersofflorence , #klondike and even in #cinderella for example. As Richard himself has mentioned several times, love scenes are some of the hardest scenes on set. Thatβs why I think it was mainly the directionβs fault that in both cases the spark didnβt jump over to the audience. At least thatβs how it was for me. However, I must admit that I was not entirely convinced by either of the female actors in these films. I want to be able to read something in the faces and not just see a blank stare. Unfortunately, that was the case with Gemma Chan and also with Rebecca Hall. In the case of Eternals, I unfortunately also have to mention Salma Hayek. Recently, on a whim - I had just listened to all the books in this series again as audiobooks - I watched the corresponding movies from the Twilight series on Netflix. And I tried to do it in the original. However, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart mumble so much that it was very difficult to understand them. What do you do then? Thatβs right! You try to activate the subtitles. That shouldnβt be a problem, you think. I could only choose German subtitles, no English ones! And thatβs when it became clear to me that itβs definitely a good idea to buy as much DVDs of your favorite movies that you can get your hands on. The images of my favorite actor shown are from films and series of which I have DVDs. And in all of them you can choose from different languages ββfor the subtitles! Including English, because I want to learn to understand the language better! Except for Sirens, where there are no subtitles at all. And thatβs the big disadvantage of streaming services! Not only you can only watch your favorite films for a limited time, like Oasis on Amazon Prime, before they disappear into oblivion; no, they are poorly dubbed (Netflix because they only have a limited pool of voice actors, or Disney, who also dub sloppily) and you are only offered a limited choice of languages ββfor the subtitles. Thatβs why Iβm glad I have a good old DVD! I can stop the film whenever I want and select the languages ββI want.
