The difference between training for a half and just running a half is HUGE. The Key West Half Marathon is easily the slowest half of my unprofessional career. My pace for this half actually matched my pace for the Chicago Marathon last October. That was a full marathon and I felt great, this was a half and I was barely hanging on. The heat/humidity played a huge factor, but so did the copious amount of alcohol Iβve consumed here since Wednesday. Wonβt make that mistake again. Anyway, the half was hard but I somehow ran it under 1:40 and got third in my age group. Today was a good one! Left the gym sweaty AF. ππΌββοΈπ₯΅ This past weekend sucked running wise, though. π¬ Personally- we had an awesome weekend. But my right knee was not happy with me after my last short-ish run so my long run didnβt happen. Which was frustrating. π I remember why I always ran trails. My knees are terrible. π They sound like bubble wrap on any given day. 𫧠So I immediately researched and found these bands to keep my kneecap in place on the old Amazon and they were a 95% game changer on my run tonight. Still slightly felt my knee after I took a short walk break and started running again, but then it stopped. Only time will tell what happens and Iβll take it as I go. Maybe I get through this race and need to replace them. π€£ Whatever. As long as I make it to the finish. π Iβm starting to be able to sit back and relax in my runs and oh it feels so good to be back in the groove. π₯° I can completely space out, forget Iβm running and get lost in the music. π I sure do miss my trails though. π€ Another goal Iβm weaving into this one- once Iβm comfortable at ultra distances, I can travel for races and you better believe Iβm going to pick some incredible trails to go get lost on. π€ Thanks for following my journey!
