Tour of the Gables 10K Time 56:37 2nd Place AG 🌸🌸🌸 Gorgeous Tour of the Gables this morning, which loops around the Coral Gables golf course in a beautiful historic neighborhood. It is one of my favorite community runs in Miami. It supports the Miami Children's Hospital. This was my first run post Boston and post eye surgery, so I took it quite easy. A run note, from my run coaching heart to your runner heart: It’s ok to switch things up! Old ways of training won’t unlock new ways of being. As athletes, we are constantly evolving and our training should reflect our evolution. What you need from running and what you need to do in order to run your best is not stagnant; it has to change because you have changed! How I trained as a 20-something year old is not how I train right now. Not only is life different, but I also respond to training differently. If I want to continue to grow as an athlete, I have to learn how to approach running and training differently. One of the biggest changes I’ve made to my training is focusing more on the “Just Try” mentality. This has eliminated the pressure I put on myself to do everything perfectly and has allowed me to reconnect to having FUN while running. So it turns out that no matter how slow I run, my heart rate is still mostly at a zone 4. ♥️📈 Averaged a 12 minute pace on my 10k run yesterday, fought hard to keep it slow and still the same results as if I would’ve ran my usual 10ish minute per mile pace. I find myself wondering how to “run” slower and keep a decent form, are my feet even coming off the ground? If I go slower will I even be running? Is it even worth it to try this zone training? At least it was a decent distance to feel like I got a good recovery workout in after 3 straight days of heavy lifting and high intensity workouts in the gym. 🥴 TODAY: complete rest day. It instantly caught my attention 👀 for a few reasons: 1) two of my favorite past times combined into one: feeling high 😮💨 and running 🏃🏻♀️ plus the combination of the two which really is a real thing, the Runners High! 🦄🤸🏻♀️2) it’s as light as a feather 🪶 ; I love the look of a simple hat but I could never stand the weight of them much less that constricted feeling of wearing one for long. This hat is a game changer and I can wear them all day. 3) the breathability. 💨 I live in Miami and the tropical climate means it’s normally 🥵 HOT AF in my beautiful city! The all-around laser cut mesh is perfect! 4) lastly, the elastic clip is just right. Never feels too tight or too loose and super easy to clip on around my pony tail! 👱🏼♀️5) ok last one for real… the sweatband! I am a profuse sweater 😅 and this is a life saver!
