One of the nicest things to do if you're in the Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) area in Nelson Mandela Bay is to walk the Sacramento Trail between Schoenmakerskop and Sardinia Bay Beach. Walk one way through the flora on the top of the sand dunes and the other along the shore. Doesn't matter which direction you do or where you start - we've done both and it's always wonderful. Weekends can be a bit busy, especially on the lower trail where people are allowed to walk with their dogs. Around 8km circular trail. Sacramento, BTW, is the name of a Portuguese ship that went down here in the 1600s. And BTW, notice our car keys lying on that whale bone to get a sense of the size of it.
