When my Mum was in the hospice before she passed we had a lot of time to talk. Mum told me to keep getting out in the mountains as it would bring me peace. I told her as soon as I could I’d climb a big mountain to be closer to her in heaven 🪽 Mum told me that she’d send me a sign that she was with me. I joked, telling her if she could send me a cloud inversion that would be great as I’d never been lucky enough to see one. Today was the first big climb since mum passed away and I bagged my first (and second) munro in perfect conditions. I know Mum was with me as she sent me a cloud inversion and it was completely beautiful. So many signs today, the weather was supposed to be raining but the sun kept shining until the exact moment I got back to my car, and then the heavens opened. I braved the scramble to the second Monro because I knew Mum was by my side. The Corbett Stob Dubh from Glen Etive. . . .I've had this walk planned for a wee while, and I decided today was the day. . . .This mountain has everything, a steep rugged walk with fantastic views of all the Munros around Glencoe. . . . PART 3 | MUNRO CHALLENGE april munro: ben chonzie difficulty level: easy time: 4 hours views: unreal what a lovely lovely day to climb a mountain, so clear & sunny!!!!! although i would class this as one of the easier munro’s i have done i was reallllly lacking the energy for it today which made it more of a struggle to get started. also when i class munros as ‘easy’ they are still hard lol but just easier than others it’s pretty steep to start off with but as you reach closer to the top it starts to flatten out a little and the last walk to the top is really nice/easy would recommend this as one of your first ones or if you were going alone as it is a pretty straight forward route all the way up and there was also lots of other people doing it to keep you right 🗻⛅️ walking gear: @decathlonuk @gymsharkwomen @gymshark #munro #munrobagging #scotland #scottishmountains #hillwalking

An absolute personal favourite whilst visiting the Isle of Skye- a trip from Elgol to Loch Coruisk with @mistyisleboat tours. Only accessible on foot or by boat, it's a true beauty spot. Loch Coruisk lies at the foot of the magnificent Cuillins. It's such a magical trip with spectacular landscapes, plus we saw the local pod of seals along the way 🦭 It felt like a hidden gem, far flung from any hustle and bustle. 📍Shenavall Bothy Fisherfield spam continues (as do my stiff legs from the walk). Two nights spent in Shenavall Bothy might not be for those who want a quieter time however this was a pretty special place to base our walk from. What with it being midweek we didn’t expect many people, but there was a fair crowd both nights. Everyone had different, fairly big hill objectives meaning bed time was civilised. The night before our walk we got to chat to those returning and then a man who was doing some neighbouring Corbetts lit the fire especially for us getting back after we’d done the massive round. Hidden by the giants until the last corner, the bothy comes on you suddenly on the walk in. We could, however, see it teasing us for about 3.5km on the way back, and 1km of that was spent navigating the deep, swampy slime that was the final hurdle between us, the fire and our sleeping bags (and the celebratory drams 🥃). Had a good laugh reading the bothy book and seeing many people mention the ‘swarms of midge’ and felt pretty smug that we’d had a midge free stay in such a wild bothy. One I’ve looked forward to visiting for a while and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The walk out after our mountain day, however, was the longest 7.5km of my life…doesn’t help you need to reascend and descend almost 400m! 🏠 ⛰️ 🌅

The 3 eastern Fisherfields from Kinlochewe. 11.5km walk in on a good track in the dark, camp by Lochan Fada, then next morning a 16km/1500m circuit of Munros Sgurr Ban, Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair and Beinn Tarsuinn before the long walk back out again. We ascended via the quartzite slabs from near the shores of Loch an Nid which take you up from 300m to 700m on amazingly clean, easy angled rock. Hardly any bog to be found on the entire route for once so very happy. South Ridge of Mullach an Rathain. Grade 2 (2*). A lovely scramble up Liathach with amazing views out over Upper Loch Torridon. Some unexpected snowfall overnight put the planned northern pinnacles route in the bin so we opted for this instead. Was not disappointed! Some decent big days over the last three days enjoying some phenomenal conditions. On Tuesday the weather probably couldn’t have been better if it tried. Unbroken sunshine, no wind, not too hot, not too cold, crystal views. I was back up on the hills east of Etive, starting with Stob Coir an Albannaich & working along to Starav for a good 4 Munro day. I always forget how relentless the descent down the north ridge of Starav is & I was definitely pretty weary when I got down. It was up the west side of Etive of Wednesday & the weather was on repeat, just a tad more hazy but I’m not complaining. Sgùrr na h-Ulaidh & Beinn Fhionnlaidh were first & linked together nicely. It was also nice to go rucksack free up the last few hundred metres of both. It was then a fair schlep out towards Beinn Sgulaird but I got there, finding a nice place to camp high in Coire nan Tulach, then summit around 8pm to catch the sunset. This morning I woke to a dusting of snow on the tent which was a pleasant surprise & a super sunrise. Packing up I headed down to Glen Creran & followed the right of way through to Ballachulish. There was a wee miscommunication with my support so I had a bit of time in Ballachulish, but fuelled by a bottle of Irn Bru I made up the time heading up School House Ridge onto the Beinn a’ Bheithir Munros, surprising myself by getting back down to South Ballachulish in under 5 hours. The views again were superb with a few brief snow flurries on the tops. A final wee cycle along to Glencoe finished the day. The Torridon Mountains Majestic mountain paradise for hikers, climbers, geologists and nature lovers. The mountains of Torridon contain some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland. They are made from ancient Lewisian Gneiss rocks, over 2 billion years old, with the youthful Cambrian quartzites topping the peaks and sandwiching the massive layer of Torridonian rocks that make up the bulk of the landscape. These are composed of a mix of reddish sandstones, conglomerates and mud stones, deposited around 700 million years ago in massive rivers and lake. 📍Fisherfield Munros What a way to kick off the summer hill season, Fisherfield 6 ✔️ Two nights in Shenavall bothy, one Corbett, five Munros, a 15 hour day and 31km through every terrain you can imagine, endless boulders and 1km of the deepest bog you’ve ever seen between you and the bothy right at the end of the day. One of those rounds you anticipate for a good while and it lived up to every expectation.
