The BCLPB, the largest prayer breakfast in Canada, gathers leaders from all sectors and diverse communities to reaffirm our faith in God and provides an opportunity to participate in fellowship and reflection. Extremely grateful for an awesome opportunity this week at the Mt Soledad National Veterans Memorial. As we’ve had numerous groups helping to restore and improve our cross, I was able to climb to the top of the cross with another great Marine, Nathaniel Donnelly. Thankful for these awesome men and women who’ve dedicated so many hours improving our Memorial! Hoping that you all will attend our Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27, 2024 from 2 to 3 p.m. as we honor the Third Battalion, Fifth Marines of Sangin, Afghanistan. How do you build a relationship with God, and what does it look like to live confidently in Christ? Ellis Barker (12th) answered these questions from Mr. Fuller today in Chapel. She spoke about the Christian walk being an everyday thing, and shared what it looks like to seek Him first. She challenged students to consider what they are consuming, and spoke about listening to worship songs while driving and taking a fast from social media to be more present. She talked about pursuing life-giving friendships and remembering that our identity is not in what the world or others say about us, but in what God says that is unchanging and secure. New on the blog today: The secret behind MCode is the understanding that each of us, because we are human, have 32 motivators. Which of these makes us feel a deep sense of fulfillment and joy, giving us a feeling of energy and excitement, is known as our Motivation Code [MCode]. Based on your stories of fulfillment, this narrative-based assessment looks at you and your experiences. Not compared to the preferences or behaviors of others. You. Unique and unrepeatable. You. Or rather, me. And it is here where my missing piece finally fell into place. As Christians, we believe that our motivations are an integral part of our God-given identity. The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us that “God created man in his own image and likeness” (CCC 355). This means that each of us has a unique combination of talents, strengths, and motivations that reflect the divine image within us. And we are called to bring that into the world in the unique way we were created to do. Discovering your MCode is like uncovering a map that leads you to your true calling, your personal vocation. By understanding your motivations, you can better discern how God is calling you to use all of you - your gifts and talents - in service of others and for his greater glory. Understanding myself at my core was the beginning of a journey of healing and growth.
