OBM Inc. has been a brain child/passion project of mine that I’ve been working on for over a year. The last 4-months have changed my life, and now there’s a Board of Directors, we’re incorporated, and applying for government grants. Check out the corrosion on our (old) sewer stack! With only one bathroom in the house, it's been a slow process to replace one thing at a time so we are never stuck without a working bathroom for more than a day. The old plumbing underneath the cast iron tub gave up the ghost during our first year living here. While the plumbers were replacing that and the stack, they offered to address the 16" rough in on the toilet. I told the guys that the only thing that was sacred to me in the bathroom was the original tile on the floor. They said there is always a risk of catastrophic cracking and that their wives would agree with me that the tile must be protected at all costs. As they were working, I smiled at their chatter that they would have been in hot water at home if they had somehow wrecked this beautiful tile. Thank you to @hoffmannbros for totally getting it and taking such great care of us over the years! When we first moved in, company after company told us they would never step foot into our neighborhood. Hoffmann Bros have always treated us, our neighborhood, and our home with the utmost respect and care. In a city where prejudice runs rampant, Hoffmann sets the tone for the way things ought to be. As far as the toilet goes, the internet tells me that the Toto Unifit adapter is the optimal choice for old house rough-ins and that the powerful flush of a Toto toilet usually prevents the typical complications of an adapter. “Sunday is the perfect day to refuel your soul and be grateful for each and every one of your blessings.” • {swipe⬅️} I am BEYOND words for yesterday’s bountiful blessings! “STEAM Beyond OUR Wildest Dreams 🚀” - my platform’s biggest endeavor culminated yesterday as I witnessed 7 AMAZING high school students, who truly dared to STEAM Beyond Their Wildest Dreams, and take on the challenge of entrusting me as their mentor (January 2024) to champion projects in STEM related fields and participate in NAACP’s ACT-SO New Orleans STEM Regional Competition- a feat that none of them had ever attempted before! With the help of some of my amazing “STEM Divas” (who stepped in to help volunteering lab spaces and coordinating medical & science tours that few get to witness), one of which was a previous mentee of mine, we collectively volunteered our time and efforts and saw these high school students FROM ACROSS LOUISIANA through their FIRST STEM ACADEMIC RESEARCH POSTER COMPETITION 🎉!!!! My heart is still so full and I’m still tearing up reliving the events of yesterday, seeing a portion of MY ultimate DREAM being fulfilled (cultivating an encouraging, equitable, diverse, accessible and inclusive community for STEAM outreach and education to youth and young adults across the Gulf south) - which is why I was intentional in including the word “OUR” in my platform 🚀🔬🩷👑 • Help me congratulate {my self-proclaimed} #LouisianaSTEMstars on an EXTRAORDINARY job well done on yesterday!
