coachella weekend 2, day 3 💫 ✨story time for context of these pics/vids: this was technically my 4th day & last day at coachella. I worked at a filipino food booth w/ @josh during weekend 2 but got to see a set during our breaks but at first josh couldn’t go with me to mau p x diplo set bc it was hella busy so I went first & offered to switch after but it definitely felt different going by yourself lol I had to ask a random stranger to take a pic of me so I had a pic at day 3 in that outfit LOL I didn’t think I would dance anymore bc 1) I was by myself so no one could take a video for me 2) it was grass again 3) calf muscles were tight after 4 days dancing straight 4) energy seemed low since I wasn’t vibing with anyone then I found a trash box aka the best way to prop your phone up for a video lol so then I said might as well use it bc I also heard dress code coming up!! so that first video is me just straight up propping the phone up & dancing immediately lol - I wasn’t warmed up bc I didn’t plan to dance originally + it was day 5 of dancing b2b lol but it was sick to see my strength & endurance kick in from the b2b classes & festival/work!! 🪩 TEACHER SPOTLIGHT🪩 @alex.scho started shuffling in 2020 during the pandemic, taking classes and drawing inspiration from instructors around the world. Her first class was with @joinshufflehouse , and in November 2020, she underwent a month of everyday online lessons with @elev8edmovement , where she developed a lot of fundamental footwork and learned how to master the basics. (Highly recommend checking it out!) Ok, now keep reading if you’re down for a novel 👇🏼 • Deep down I’ve been wanting to battle at least one time in my life and after watching several battles over the years, I continuously felt like “I wasn’t ready” and wasn’t “battle material”. I’ve understood that readiness isn’t a feeling but rather a decision, so this weekend, I made that decision. Thank you @taytay.july for our first knockout round together. You brought some serious smoke 💨 I’m walking away buzzzzing beyond belief and feeling so inspired to continue training this sport and this art even more vigorously than ever before. •BIGGEST THANK YOU to @milehighshufflers for hosting this event and gathering all this talent in one room at the same time 💪🏼 It was an honor to participate and especially to be judged by some of the most respectable dancers: @ciaracastro_ , @leftynueve , @okariah ✊🏼 •Another separate thank you to @earthtomars__ for bringing the heat in our round 🫶🏼 Never in my life did I think I was going to be going up against someone who I’ve looked up to for YEARS and learned from over and over again.
