Glorious weather today in the 80s. I know some runners don’t like the warm weather, but I much prefer the heat over the cold any day. As I get older, I have grown to despise the winter, but we always out here crushing it no matter what. 🏃🏻💪 I had planned on only doing 4 miles today, however I had some extra time and went for 8. Pushed the pace on the hills and recovered on the flats, heart rate stayed in a good range. It was a pretty good weekend overall. Some good miles on new to me trails on Saturday morning with @mrchristrevino . Then after showering, eating, and running some errands I headed down to cheer on friends at Ironman Texas while hanging out with Anna. Probably spent a few hours at Hippie Hollow cheering until my throat felt raw before getting to run behind the @the_iron_lorax as they flew through that section of the run on their way to a great finish. Exhausted from the long day, I got to bed way later than normal and when the blaring cacophony of violence that is my alarm woke me this morning, I quickly sent my apologies to the HATRS and went back to sleep, feeling bad but knowing I needed it. This lead to some quality alone time on the local trails late morning. Life is good. I'm moving again. I faced my demons at IMTX (I was entered but not trained and in my dead name after that whole stupid detransition period I entertained while being brainwashed) and actually had a net positive experience. Here's to a wonderful, if stormy, week ahead! Now I have Ironmans running through my head again... @thefellsman 2024 I had an amazing day out with amazing views all day but it was unfortunately another DNF. I made it to Redshaw which is just over half way at 52.5km and my quads were absolutely shot to bits having already done 2585 metres of elevation. It was also really cold with a windchill of -5 and I just wasn’t moving fast enough to keep warm. Ultimately I just wasn’t fit enough to do such a tough course. I’m pleased that I lined up on that start line and that I’ve now recced the first half and know how tough it is and I know what I need to do to complete it next time. I’ve decided to cancel my races for the next couple of months and follow a proper training plan for a marathon I’m doing in Sherwood pines in July I’ve got about 12 weeks to train for it and be more consistent with my running and sort my head out so that I start eating better to lose some weight as it’s making running really hard. 🌵 Don’t Get Caught In A Prickly Situation ☀️ The temperature is rising which means the likelihood of chaffing is on the rise too. So don’t get caught in a prickly situation. Make sure every time you hit the trail you pack the baby size anti-chafe in your running vest. It will help keep the prickles. How might you ask? We all know the second, I mean the second, we feel a hot spot coming in we need to take care of it. Not in a few miles, not at an aid station, not when we finish this loop… NOW! Every moment counts to stop the prickle. That’s when you whip out your baby size Squirrels Nut Butter to the rescue. Lube it up and get back to crushing the miles. The only prickly things we want to see on the trail are cactus and from a safe distance. I may or may not got poked a few times taking this photo. RACE ANNOUNCEMENT: Training cycle for my fall goal race started today. 7 easy plus chest & back workout. I first came across this race my first year as a runner 2015, and knew I wanted to run it one day. I first registered for the 2020 race but the pandemic ended that idea and I took the refund. Last fall I noticed the date of last year's race and quickly realized my birthday would be the day of this year's race. I decided then, next year 2024 was my time. Unfortunately I neglected to realize it was a leap year and my 2023 Friday b-day skipped straight to a 2024 Sunday b-day. 😫😖😡🤷🏽♂️🤔🙄🙂 Nevertheless, I am registered and ready to start a 50k cycle of which I've never really done. I've run 50k distance and used 50ks as training runs for 100ks but never specifically a 50k cycle. First of all, I didn't think I would actually run, otherwise I wouldn't have taken this backpack with me... but as soon as we got to the mountain they got super excited and started running. Who am I to stop them? I thought they would just get tired real quick and resort back to walking, but no, they had a lot of energy. And as their mom, I should have known that. A bit ashamed to say my 7yo kicked my ass on climbs and almost gave me a heart attack on downhills, but turns out he's actually pretty skilled. Meanwhile, I was just trying to keep my 4yo alive cuz he was jumping all over the place and could have easily run off a cliff or face-planted. As for today, just a rainy 12k to close off recovery. Feeling strong and ready to get back to work. This race was postponed due to rain and the date was moved to today, my boys wanted to do it. I didn't know if I wanted to go or not for different personal reasons. In the end I decided to run it because there are very few opportunities to spend time with my son now that he is older. Every time we run we compete with each other, it's fun for us. Today was special because I enjoyed running with him and thinking about my little Angelo motivated me the entire race. I couldn't stop thinking about him and Michael. Life is hard but beautiful at the same time. I love you boys !!! Ran the Love Taupo Craters Trail half with @annasis1 and @kirstyibbo yesterday. Fab location - very pretty, although I have to admit mountain bike trails aren't my favourite with their little ups and downs and tight turns - give me a nice wide path and long slow climbs any day, which this trail did for much of the event. The big climb here was through the felled part of the forest, adding a whole extra level of mental challenge - it's not fun seeing just how much further you have yet to go, although the views from the top were spectacular. 🌟 La @petzltrailplus 2024 50km 🎖🥉 07:52:34 ⛰️🏃♀️ El proceso no ha sido fácil pero estamos en camino, años aprendiendo de errores y experiencias, compaginando un trabajo sedentario (8 horas programando 🧠👩💻), mi familia, afrontando enfermedades, con horas de mucho volumen de entrenamiento, trabajo de fuerza 🏋♀️, estudios 📚 (hace un año empecé a estudiar entrenamiento deportivo, nutrición, trabajo preventivo, etc), prueba error, simulaciones, visualizaciones (psicologia deportiva), un trabajo integral que no solo implica correr pero que ha valido la pena porque me gusta hacer las cosas bien. Sali conservadora porque venia con molestia de una sobrecarga en la pierna izquierda, de la tension mis pantorrillas se pusieron muy duras los dias previos, la mente se ponía de manifiesto con dudas y miedos mostrándome que todavia me falta trabajar en ello, arriesgar un poco más y confiar en mi porque el trabajo ya estaba hecho y me di cuenta a medida que pasaba los kms que me sentía fuerte logrando remontar algunos puestos en los 20km restantes. Had a lot of fun yesterday at Trail Weekend! I ran the half marathon and then volunteered as a “capture captain” and took a ton of pics but not a single one of myself 🤣 This was an interesting race. I was sick all week so hadn’t run or done a workout since last Friday. I still had a little lingering sinus congestion yesterday morning but decided I was just gonna do it. I didn’t feel awful during, but definitely wasn’t 100% and struggled a bit during the last 2 miles. This was my third time running the half marathon at this race and it ended up being my fastest by 5 minutes! I know I would’ve done even better had I not been sick 🙂 Shoutout to @gutcheckfitness for helping me get faster and stronger! Super fun adventure/workout Sunday with @novaksethr at Lake Summit. I’ve heard the route around the lake was super fun and a training ground for all the cross country teams. So it’s been on my list for a couple of years now. Nice to knock it out with basically no free weekends until we move. Solid aerobic threshold effort on the run. Legs felt really good despite basically not sleeping in the last 3 days, bike was a much more mellow cruise around the lake. Good little multisport trip. Absolutely perfect weather. 👋 We’re the Von Tramp Hash House Harriers, a non-competitive running club based in Northwestern Vermont with an emphasis on fun and socializing. We run throughout Chittenden County on the first Saturday of the month from April to October, and every other Saturday in the winter. Our runs vary in length, difficulty, and terrain but always involve singing, drinking, and general merriment in the woods. It is not necessary to be a fast runner (walkers are welcome too!) but a sense of humor is essential. Dia lindo com céu azul e uma vontade imensa de viver o que me preparei para fazer, uma maratona pelas montanhas da Serra da Mantiqueira. Depois de dois entorses seguidos (um em cada pé), tinha em mente que precisaria fazer essa prova com muita atenção e cautela, e assim foi. Não pude treinar tanto quanto gostaria mas sabia que tinha condições de correr esses 42k. Curti cada km, ao longo do percurso passei por vários rios cristalinos com água gelada e também com trechos com bastante lama. Algumas marcações da prova foram arrancadas e eu e alguns corredores perdemos tempo até achar o caminho certo. Lá pelo km 28, veio a subida do Marimbondo que parecia interminável, nesse momento achei que não ia conseguir terminar mas sabia que depois desse trecho era só descer e partir pro abraço. Cruzei o pórtico com uma felicidade imensa e uma emoção gigante. Como eu amo esse esporte que faz me superar e me ensina a ser uma pessoa melhor e resiliente a cada desafio. Fechei na 16° colocação geral feminina e 2°na faixa etária....gente, tô um nojo com esse troféu lindo!!! Obrigada @robertotadao por me orientar, me acalmar e me mostrar que eu seria capaz de correr essa prova mesmo com todos os percalços.
