Sage and Fisher 💕 Their romance was slow growing but so sweet. From the moment they meet, there is an instant attraction, but due to Fisher’s grief/messy life and Sage’s wariness of a summer fling, they focus on developing a friendship based on vulnerability and reliability. In the end, Fisher finds someone who can relate his grief and helps him through it. While Sage finds someone who loves AND appreciates her for exactly who she is - funky robes and all. It’s apparent that this story was written from the heart because everything about it feels so real. Nothing about Savor It felt contrived, and that was extremely refreshing. And this is what I love most about Tarah Dewitt’s writing, is that she has a way of bringing everything to life. Now, I’m annoyed I waited so long because WOW. This. Book. Is. AMAZING! 👏 Definitely one of my top reads of 2023! The story follows Oraya, a human girl raised by a ruthless vampire king. She’s been training her whole life to compete in a deadly tournament where one winner will be granted a single wish from the goddess of vampires. Think of it as The Hunger Games meets ACOTAR but with vampires and magic! There’s so many parts of this story I loved, but here’s just a few: • Oraya is a refreshingly fantastic FMC - logical, competent, and self-sufficient. She’s hardly a damsel in distress and I’m here for it! • Vincent, Oraya’s adopted father, is a savage king but she is his one weakness. 🥹 • The romance is slow burn and the progression from enemies to allies to friends to lovers was incredibly realistic. Raihn and Oraya forever. 🫶 • That ending shocked the h3ll out of me! The plot twists and reveals just kept coming and didn’t stop! Thank goodness the next book is already out because there’s no way I could wait to find out what happens next. PS: I’m already 60% of the way through book 2, and LOVING it! If you like heartfelt romances with phenomenal writing, amazing banter, and a magical setting, you will enjoy this! There is so much about this story I loved . . . - The Scottish setting. Reading Kilt Trip made me feel like I was back in Scotland, and just for a few hours, I was able to once again lose myself in the beautiful streets of Edinburgh and the enchanting Highlands. - Addie and Logan are realistic, well developed, and extremely lovable characters. Addie is a travel consultant who works non-stop and is afraid of love, while Logan runs his family’s tour company and is afraid of change. They’re both incredibly strong, yet tenderhearted, and don’t want to let anyone down. - The romance. Logan and Addie have incredible chemistry and amazing banter. The ‘rivals to lovers’ dynamic created such delicious tension. - The spice. Logan is a consent king and a GIVER, and any time he calls Addie ‘lass’ . . . instant lady b0ner. lol The spicy scene are open door but not overly graphic. ✨ A Fate Inked In Blood - Special Edition ✨ I absolutely loved this viking inspired romantasy and was so excited when @fairyloot announced it as their February monthly adult box! From the moment they meet, they have insane chemistry and are clearly meant to be together. However, there is a forbidden aspect to the story that prevents them from making any moves, so there’s so much flirty banter, tension, and longing - and I ate it all up! Jensen also does an amazing job introducing this new world without loads of info dumping and I enjoyed how she weaes Norse mythology into the story. A Fate Inked In Blood is a new fast paced, high stakes story that I recommend if you enjoy fantasy, mythology, and forbidden romance. ✨ House of Flame and Shadow Review ✨ *** This review contains SPOILERS*** PS: If you want to read the bonus chapters, I have all of them saved on my story highlights! - 𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: Was it a bad story? No. But was it the best? No. I thought HOFAS was an okay / fine conclusion, but I doubt I’ll ever read it again. 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝟯.𝟱 ⭐️ 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲: 𝟭.𝟱 🌶️ 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘥: - The overall plot. - The possibilities of the Maasverse. - Learning the history of the Asteri, Midgard, & Fae home world. - Lidia Cervos is my absolute favorite character of the series! - The romance between Ruhn and Lidia. - Ithan’s character arc and story development, while abrupt and a bit random, was interesting. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦: - The multiple, mid-chapter POV changes. It drove me nuts. - The predictable, low-stakes ending. ACOWAR 2.0. - The story is plot heavy with not enough character / relationship growth. And poor Ruhn, Hunt, and Lidia didn’t get any time to work through traumas. - Ruhn and Lidia were ROBBED of a beautiful romance / healing journey. - Hunt and Bryce’s ‘reunion’ was the most anticlimactic scene of the entire book. - The almost non-existent spice was a snooze fest. - Hunt and Bryce as a couple. I don’t feel their connection. - Bryce. She’s a selfish, immature, pick-me girl. The fact she unleashed an Asteri into the Fae home world without a second thought and told Hunt to get over his trauma. . . WTF girl. - I hate Tharion and the fact so much of this book was his POV. - There are too many side characters that really don’t matter. - Aidas’ reason for not just telling Bryce the truth because “she wasn’t ready” was absolutely BS. Everything about them from their backgrounds to their beautiful romance to their marriage struggles was so compelling. Since this book is about a marriage in crisis, it may not be for everyone. However, while Ale and Dom’s relationship is over-dramatized for the sake of a good story, there are a lot of aspects about it that I think many people in long term relationships will relate to. While reading, you’ll feel a lot of angst and frustration but also the immense love between these two soulmates. I teared up many times and full on cried (happy tears) near the end. I listened to the audiobook and absolutely LOVED it. The narrators were fantastic and did an incredible job bringing this angsty, second-chance romance to life. A lot of people say this is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, but for anyone who’s seen Castlevania (an animated TV series), it’s a lot like Dracula and Lisa’s story, except with an HEA. Lilith, is a scientist looking for a cure to a sickness caused by a curse from one of the gods. Vale, is an old vampire who has chosen to isolate himself from the rest of the world. Lilith goes to his mansion to ask him for his blood, which she believes holds the cure to the sickness. In exchange, she will give him six ‘special’ roses for each month she visits. Vale is intrigued by her cleverness and lack of fear, so he agrees to help her. They start off as strangers who are intrigued by each other, and then overtime develop a friendship founded on admiration and respect. Both are incredibly logical individuals and in a way mirror one another. And together, Vale finds something to love and care for, and Lilith finds someone who truly sees and appreciates her. I think Vale’s complete acceptance of Lilith is what I really adore about these two. For her whole life she’s been considered weird and different. But the things others find strange about her, Vale appreciates and loves. He’s perfect for her in every way. 🫶 Also, there may have only been one spicy scene, but it was intense. We can all commiserate together. lol But ANYWAYS, I took a few notes from the Q&A and wanted to share them with you: • Divine Rivals was originally going to be a stand alone. • The first draft of Ruthless Vows was almost 150,000 words. • Rebecca doesn’t have any fan casts for Iris and Roman but loves seeing what people come up with. • Rebecca’s first book idea was about a horse girl who gets portable into a fantasy world with talking horses. She was VERY young when she came up with this idea. • “Music is like modern day magic to me.” - Rebecca Ross. Some of her favorite music come from the Interstellar, Atonement, and Dunkirk soundtracks. • Rebecca also confirmed last night at the NYC event that Iris and Roman were inspired by Dramione as well as other literary couples! Now, I’m annoyed I waited so long because WOW. This. Book. Is. AMAZING! 👏 Definitely one of my top reads of 2023! The story follows Oraya, a human girl raised by a ruthless vampire king. She’s been training her whole life to compete in a deadly tournament where one winner will be granted a single wish from the goddess of vampires. Think of it as The Hunger Games meets ACOTAR but with vampires and magic! There’s so many parts of this story I loved, but here’s just a few: • Oraya is a refreshingly fantastic FMC - logical, competent, and self-sufficient. She’s hardly a damsel in distress and I’m here for it! • Vincent, Oraya’s adopted father, is a savage king but she is his one weakness. 🥹 • The romance is slow burn and the progression from enemies to allies to friends to lovers was incredibly realistic. Raihn and Oraya forever. 🫶 • That ending shocked the h3ll out of me! The plot twists and reveals just kept coming and didn’t stop! Thank goodness the next book is already out because there’s no way I could wait to find out what happens next. PS: I’m already 60% of the way through book 2, and LOVING it!
