The Lion King. 2019 (Cinema) THE KING OF DISNEY'S ANIMATION IS BROUGHT TO LIFE I'm willing to bet most people, especially those who were kids in the 90's, would say 'The Lion King' is their favourite animated Disney movie. With the likes of Aladdin and Dumbo getting the live-action remake version, The Lion King was always going to happen. I'm sure we all know the story and nothing has changed here regarding the plot. First of all, the film looks fascinating! After watching this I have realised that there is nothing the movie studios can't do in terms of visual quality. We have a film full of likeable characters here too just like the animated version along with incredible voice work. Seth Rogen being the standout as Pumbaa just fitted perfectly. There are a few funny moments lashed in too as you'd expect and I didn’t find myself bored at all for the whole runtime but this movie has two glaring problems for me that take away a bit of the shine. The first is even though the film looks amazing, its the animation of the characters faces. This wasn't a problem for most of the Disney live-action movies, however this has the same problem as 'The Jungle Book' did. The animals look TOO real which creates a problem that the animated version didn’t have as they are expressionless most of the time. It's a hard medium to find and this movie just didn’t quite grasp it. The second issue I have was that even though I really liked this movie, if I want to watch 'The Lion King' again I am almost certainly going back to the animated version. It just has more charm and likeability and for most people, that will be the same because of a little thing called nostalgia. It's also a shot for shot remake so it doesn't bring anything new to make me want to go to this one. This is still a very good time though and worth watching for the visuals alone. Fun Fact: Director Jon Favreau also directed The Jungle Book (2016) Best Moment: The Stampede with the infamous character death scene. Best Quote: Pumbaa 'I always thought those things in the sky were balls of gas billions of light years away' Score: 8/10
Jangan tanya berapa kali aku nonton film ini. Ddari versi animasi tahun 94 sampe yang versi live actionnya tahun 2019! Ahahahahahahaha :-D ,. . . . tapi tetep versi animasinya tak terkalahkan sih, mungkin ceritanya Disney pengen bikin yg versi ini agak lebihdark dari yg versi animasinya tapi malah untuk di scene2 yg harusnya ekspresif dan musikal malah datar bgt jadinya :( apalagi di momment2 memmorablenya malah diilangin dan diganti scene gak penting kayak perjalanan bulu2 Simba yg kesannya kayak gak guna sama sekali! Dan masih gak terima sama Be Preparednya padahal daripada Can You Feel The Love To Night aku lebih suka lagu Be Prepared! La principal incógnita que rodeaba a esta película (¿será fiel a la original?) se disipa nada más empezar la película cuando te encuentras con una primera escena calcada a la de la película de 1994. En ese momento respiré tranquilo y dejé a un lado mi temor inicial de que Disney se cargase la que en mi opinión es su mejor película. Favreau no intenta hacer su propia versión ni cae en el error de ser pretencioso con lo que tiene entre manos, esta película es un fiel homenaje a la versión de dibujos, calcada casi plano por plano, con la misma magia y los mismos lugares. A nivel visual es una auténtica maravilla, un espectáculo hiperrealista que nunca antes había visto. Los paisajes, los animales, la vegetación, el agua, el cielo... no hay nada en esta película que no parezca 100% real. En este sentido me dejó con la boca abierta. Sobre la banda sonora poco puedo decir que no se sepa ya, si El Rey León está considerada como la mejor película de Disney por mucha gente es en gran parte por su sublime banda sonora. En este sentido también hay pocos cambios con respecto a la original, sí que es cierto que en algunos casos se cambian las letras de las canciones o se hacen más cortas/largas para que la historia encaje. Lo único que no me ha convencido han sido las partes en las que cantaba Beyoncé. No voy a entrar en el debate de si me parece mejor o peor cantante, porque aquí vengo a hablar de cine, pero creo que ha sido la única persona del elenco que ha intentado destacar por encima de su personaje. En ningún momento se escuchaba a Nala, se escuchaba a Beyoncé cantando otro single más, sobre todo cuando se sacan de la chistera una canción interpretada por ella que no aparecía en la película original. Es el eterno problema de incluir a cantantes como dobladores en vez de a actores y actrices normales o de doblaje que saben expresar mucho mejor con la voz lo que su personaje está sintiendo en cada momento.
