National Register Nominations are just one type of project we work on at Rosin Preservation. Since February of 2006, our team has written 178 nominations, which including seven Multiple Property Designation Forms (MPDFs) covering 2357 resources. With all the documentation required, nominations can run 30 to 50 pages for an individual building, and more than 100 pages for a district. These are DEEP dives into why a building is significant. "We've come a long way from the 4-page nominations of the 1970s," says Rachel Consolloy, Rosin Preservation COO . A nomination is about more than how pretty a building is or who slept there. They often reflect a building's connection to the forces of history that shaped its street, neighborhood, city, town, or state. Well, our little Christmas gift came early, a month early, to be exact. 36 weeks exactly Hollis Townes Staver came to us by emergency c-section due to placental abruption. We are still on shock that he is here and all ours. Larkin met him today and is so proud to be his big sister. Mommy and Hollis are improving each day. He came to us on 12/2/22 weighing 6lbs 5oz and 19in long. Three Little Pigs - Part 2 __________________________________________ Since the weather has turned nice and warm in Toronto, we have been releasing the three little pigs in the front yard to roam and feed under the careful eye of the animal loving farm girl. And these piggies have attracted quite the crowd! I have talked to more people on our street in the last week than I have since we have arrived. But an encounter Thursday morning was extra-ordinary. As I was placing the pigs on the front lawn a woman walked by and began to engage in conversation - about the pigs, about the weather - but then we started talking about our stories, our families, our journey. When I mentioned I was a pastor, Fran paused and started to cry... and in that moment the conversation shifted into a God space that I wasn't expecting. Together we shared heartache and faith while keeping an eye on the three little pigs. Fran and I exchanged numbers and I have committed to stay in touch. Not sure what God has in store but I'm just trying to keep in step with the Spirit and the doors He is opening in my neighbourhood space. I am confident that our calling needs to be a calling to our community which in essence is us living and investing in our neighbourhood - the people walking down our street. When we create that space where He has placed us, He creates opportunities and He opens doors. Sometimes it's just creating the space for Him to move and for us to be intentional. I was deeply reminded of that this week. And hey, if you need an evangelistic guniea pig to help, I'm willing to share. I've got a few on hand. Three Little Pigs Part 1 ______________________________________ @thepreachrman and I always seem to get oursleves into interesting situations. Not sure how. Not sure why. It all started with Bella. She wanted a guinea pig for her birthday and after some discussion we agreed. So on her birthday Tim brought her to the store where they found a little fella and purchased all the gear to keep him alive. She lovingly named him 'the General'. Then people started telling her that guinea pigs live longer when they have mates - apparently they need a companion. Bella spent four weeks saving her dollars and off we went to the pet store to find General a mate. In the store the signage was different than before. 'Guinea Pigs are only sold in pairs'. Pretty sure that wasn't there a month ago. The sales person confirmed the policy. Pet Smart only sells guinea pigs together, as mates, and the last sales person made a big mistake. I showed my receipt and the sales person went out back to have a discussion with the manager. The 9 year old was in tears and I was pretty ademant they needed to fix the issue. They emerged with a solution I wasn't expecting. 'Ma'am, we can't break up guinea pigs that are already bonded but because of the mistake we will give you two for the price of one.' The squeal from Bella sealed the deal and everyone was happy with the outcome, everyone but me. And that is the story of how The Andrews got three little pigs. One thing I have been dying to get is a flower press. When you are studying to be an herbalist being able to preserve what you forage is kind of a necessity. I had been looking and looking and couldn't bring myself to buy one. Enter my sister by heart @samanthasoilnest. She got me the most beautiful flower press with the most touching inscription on the back. Yes I cried not because this gift is obviously so touching and something I will treasure forever, but because that girl is someone I get to call one of my closest friends. She is my ride or die and has been on many ups and downs in my life since I was 16 years old. Don't know where I would be without her. My advice? John, we did it. New construction finishing during COVID made us become really close. Hysterically close.
