Is anyone really ar*ed? 10 years ago the 2nd image was my working world. I worked crazy hours under a lot of pressure as early as the previous October planning and meticulously coordinating the production of your postal and voting forms for them to be at your door in May. The majority of us throw them in the bin or don’t bother voting. Although I got paid very well for working on those campaigns, I still recollect the late nights, the lost family time, the anxiety and stress and wouldn’t go back to that for a golden pig. I do though recall the feeling that I’d done an amazing job and felt proud. It’s the same with being an eco conscious Florist, and the reel posted yesterday, I met with 2 amazing florists- there’s a few of us trying to make a difference to the world banging the drum, but is anyone really ar*ed? Supermarkets fill up with flowers cheaper than we can buy wholesale or direct from a grower, we pay £££s to join likeminded schemes, training courses, learning from mistakes, build websites, spend hours trying to think of content on here and when we deliver our gorgeous, sustainable funeral flowers to the Funeral Directors we’re alongside other florists carrying in one hand the lightweight ribbon and plastic foam filled MAM or DAD with their bright flowers chucked together as quick as your Maccy D drive through. I also had an incredible few hours learning about natural medicines and herbalism derived from nature yesterday with my colleague from 10 years ago and quickly realised as a race we’ve learned F-all from our ancestors. Well done if I’ve still got your attention, maybe you’ve discovered lions mane 😉 I’m going to keep banging my drum and making changes however little and pointless it might seem. Herb love 🌿 Aromatic, thought invoking, textured and absolutely loved as an addition to complement my floral designs. I love the earthiness, the relevance and inner meanings that herbs bring. Everyone recognises the aroma of a garden rose, peony or lilac but maybe not the blends of herbs that I either grow or have the luxury of buying from the @yorkshire_flower_farm I’ve discovered their many different varieties of mint, aromatic herbal flowers such as agastache (which I absolutely adore) and always look forward to their new season to share more. Sometimes a little voice in my head can lead to a certain flower being added (or in the case of this beautiful casket arrangement) rosemary. I knew I had to add touches of this and was really uplifted when I researched its biblical meaning. I nestled it behind the gorgeous white roses and the result was so lovely. Rosemary symbolises purification, protection, remembrance, and spiritual self-discovery. With so many beautiful types of greenery available I’ll always choose something that is different giving uniqueness to my designs. Love Px

Choice in 3 pics🌿a peak behind the blooms 1. Locally or sustainably grown moss and willow base wrapped with twine = 100% compostable 2. Oasis foam, plastic base = 100% landfill 3. A beautiful floral tribute with it’s mechanics hidden Both funeral base options would also contain pretty flowers, one will contain mainly locally grown foliage and flowers, one 100% imported flowers usually chrysanthemums that are sometimes dyed to ‘create’ the matching colours to the plastic ribbons that adorn them. One will leave no lasting impact on our environment, one will be there leaving it’s toxic chemicals and microplastics for a very long time. In the case of my local council, both will be put in a skip after the flowers have died and taken to our local ‘multifuel power station’ that incinerates them. I can’t find the answer as to how this affects our air pollution as I’m yet to be invited for a site visit. If you take your wreath and place it in the garden waste bin, it can be recycled and reused as soil improver or mulch. The plastic version obviously cannot be recycled as it’s full of contaminated foam. Remember the transition from plastic straws to paper? Or ‘bags for life’? It’s now become the norm. Until single use plastics are banned it’s still a choice, but an informed choice, totally up to you of course, and I choose to help reduce waste wherever I can. ✨HAPPY PLACE✨ Yes yes yes! Me in my happy place! If we chat regularly you’re probably sick of hearing how much I love spending time in the garden (as opposed to doing all that pesky admin I also have to do). But look at that view! It’s the best workplace come rain and shine - no matter the weather I get joy from this space, some new treasure every day. I am so content when I’m outside with my hands in the soil, weeding, planting out, picking (for the first hour 😂) and just getting garden jobs done. It’s the best feeling to spend a whole day out there ticking jobs off the list, feeling present and productive. I realise that says a lot about me and what makes me happy 😆 It is a constant juggle between all the things that need doing and I’d like more time outside without distraction. But there are many facets to this flower farming floristry business and growing is just one of them. Blue 🌿🦋 A common choice of blue florals to represent the lovely men in our lives, how to make it personal without foam letters or foam ball shapes 🦋 Rugby ball was hand painted and inside was replaced with water filled jam jars and moss to create a beautiful vessel to house the flowers and foliage. The flowers can be replaced and thus creating an everlasting tribute. 🦋 Mossed wreaths with added name plates and ribbons - can be reused again and again as new flowers can be added or small plants such as succulents or primroses that don’t need much root space to create an everlasting wreath.
