Airports - more often than not, the first and last step we take in a single country So why not make them more interactive, educational ... tell us a story about the country we're visiting 🪷🦜 These birds are godwits, who each year fly from the Southern Hemisphere to the Yellow Sea, then to Alaska, and back. But that info comes from the airport's Facebook post from 2018🤷♀️ I probably spent a good half an hour searching all the walls for potential description - what is this about, who's the author, why exactly those birds, are they New Zealand native... ? Nothing... I'm sure the people thought, "What is she doing? The gate numbers are clearly written! Why is she staring at the wall?"🤣 Well, ▶️ What do you do with all the extra time while waiting for your flight ? ◀️ [And we all *know* we have to get there wayyy too early 😒] . I walk around the building, I look at its features, at people's habits ... And I imagine this airport being a mini art gallery, featuring national symbols, native birds and other animals, native plants, explaining the history, immersing you in the culture ...making the people who only have a layover feel like they *need* to come back and visit. Or perhaps a museum-style exhibition about the Earth, about the universe, or science in general. Both for kids and adults . There's so much space *and* time to do something fun. But nope... plain walls and pure boredom It's a shame the most interesting thing we have is our phone Or maybe it's just me... maybe I get bored easily 😅 . What are your thoughts? Would you leave your phone aside to look around the airport if it was more interactive? Would this be a good time and place for some educational information? Disons que j’avais une petite hésitation avant de faire la célèbre randonnée de Roys Peak en Nouvelle-Zélande. Grimper 1000m sur 6km et avoir assez d’énergie pour redescendre tout ça après? Au final… j’ai trouvé ça extraordinaire 🏔️ Oui d’accord c’était cardio et j’étais fatiguée à la fin, mais je n’ai pas trouvé ça difficile. Comme quoi tout le Stair Master que je fais au gym a fini par payer 😅 Ajoutons à ça des dizaines de moutons à contempler et un délicieux carré à la costarde le lendemain, et tout était parfait 🐑 . Let’s say I was a little bit hesitant before doing the famous Roys Peak hike in New Zealand. I was afraid that climbing 1000m over 6km would be too difficult and that I wouldn’t have the energy to go back down afterwards. And in the end... it was extraordinary 🏔️ Yes okay it was cardio and I was tired after, but I didn’t find it difficult.
