I had more in the tank!" 🏃This was Thad's first marathon back post injury, he nailed his training, often exceeding his pace goals. Run Streak Day 1279 (Yesterday) 26.2 miles / 215 month to date miles Race report… In 2004 I “ran” my first marathon, my first ever race with @teamintraining . I had 3 little kids and I was NOT a runner. My baby was 3 years old and finishing up a 2 year protocol of chemo and surgeries for #nonhodgkinslymphoma and #acutelymphocytic #leukemia of the pre-B cell. I raised a little over $4000 and limped across the finish line with a time of 7 HOURS!!!! This week we’ve been celebrating 20 years of bonus birthdays for Catie Jane. Yesterday I ran @gcm_toledo #GlassCityMarathon … It was hot and muggy for an April race… heat and humidity are my kryptonite… In December, when I signed up for this race it was 1. A good race to honor this 20 year milestone and 2. A great training day with friends as I prepare for my birthday ultra at @comradesmarathon next month. Somewhere along the way as my age crept closer to 50 and my training improved my pace, I began to believe I was capable of qualifying for the @bostonmarathon … Something that was never really on this old, slow girl’s radar…. Welp, with a pr/pb at last month’s @rivershalfmarathon followed by a #Boston watch party with @run_detroit , my hopes and belief rose to the possibility of a #BQ . I missed my BQ by 1 minute yesterday… 1 minute. Yesterday was so amazing. My first 16 miles were on pace to achieve my goal. There were so many cheers, so much love and support!!! And so much humidity… 🥵 I felt like I was still running my pace/effort at mile 16, but when I looked at my @garmin it reported I was in fact running MUCH slower… More in comments…

Early this week we talked about taper week - what can happen and what to expect (spoiler alert, not a good night of sleep). It’s important to sleep the few days before race eve and focus on good hydration so you are ready to go on race morning (especially if conditions are expected to be hot). . Of course you train hard for a great result. If you follow your race plan, 9 times out of 10 you’ll have at least a solid day. Ultimately what you want is a day that is a reflection of your fitness. Some days things click, some days they don’t. . Races will never be perfect. There will always be ups and downs and lessons to glean. No matter what, try to go into your races with a positive attitude and spend as much of the day thinking positively as you can. Sometimes a positive mantra or self-talk can help turn your race around. Sometimes it at least helps you get to the finish line. When all else fails count your steps 😂 No matter what, don’t give up, and keep fighting for every second that you can. I think it’s safe to say I’ve really qualified for Boston this time! 🙌 Today was a true test of grit as the pain started to set in early on at mile four. I’ve been having so much trouble with nagging injuries, but was so determined to get my BQ! Last year I qualified for Boston at this same race @mountains2beachmarathon only to find out months later that I had been cut due to the high number of applicants. But this year I have a 15 minute buffer! All of your support and encouragement really carried me through the tough miles today! Jim Thorpe Marathon: Official Time: 2:44:28 I had a lot of mantras going into this marathon but the biggest ones that carried me through were: Boston 2025, Execute The Plan, Relentless, & Go One More. Almost 2 years ago now, I ran my first road marathon in a time of 3:43. Then onto a 3:21, followed by a 2:56, & now a 2:44. I am proud of this one & all the work it took to pull it off. Ran the Eugene Marathon this morning! I loved it!! 😀 So grateful, my friend Ryan was able to get me an entry last minute! I photographed the @ultrasignup #DirtCircus event yesterday then took an evening flight to Eugene, arrived around 8PM! Thankful to stay at Bianca’s parent’s home! I swear it was like Make A Wish for a runner and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity even though I did everything opposite of how I normally travel and do races 🤣 My main goal was just to get more cushion for Boston 2025 and so my mantra was pushin for the cushion 😆. Eugene is beautiful, the weather was lovely, the people are so friendly and it was well organized! Ran a 3:30, so now have a 20 minute cushion for next year. I wore my adidas Adios Pro and loved them, don’t think I can wear the Nikes anymore with the way my feet/neuropathy. I was thankful I didn’t have any cramping or dizziness like at Boston. The best part of the Eugene Marathon is that it finishes in Hayward Field!! So magical! 😍 And thanks to my coach, James Bonnett for always being so supportive! Let's Hope 🤞🏻 it's enough for Boston 2025! 🤩 ☆ ☆ ☆ 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐍: YOU ARE NO JOKE! At 21.1km I was sitting comfortably in 5th Overall with a 1:19:40 - but then things were HEATING UP 🥵🌡🔥 and a controlled implosion saw my 2nd Half of the race go 1:32:42 [+13:02 🙈] - but hey - it was my FIRST ONE! To my neighbour Ray who drove down to cheer me on, to my @bayfrontendurance 💛🦆 Teammates for YELLING AT ME TO GO FOR IT (we are gonna party Hard on Tuesday @meritbrewing 🥂🍻 and I might need help getting up on Stage at Karoke 🎤😂).
