Coming down from the “Goat’s trail” at Bell’s Rapid. After already hiking to Bells Falls. When I left home to take up my first teaching position as a fresh faced 22-year-old I travelled further west than I had ever been in my life and found myself in the real Australian outback. For a girl from the North Shore of Sydney, who had never been further west than Penrith, it was a shock to say the least. I vividly remember calling my mum to tell her ‘the dirt really is red out here!’ That was many years, many homes and many jobs ago now. I’ve seen plenty of red dirt, outback, mountain ranges, rainforest, beaches, and plenty more city (can you ever take the city out of the girl?). But ever since that teaching post in the outback the bush has my heart. When I first met my husband my idea of a good time was to go trekking up and down the mountains in the vast national parks that surrounded our then home in the chilly towns on top of the Great Dividing Range. When my husband pulled up to Bells Rapid yesterday morning I was happily surprised. Somehow we were close enough to home that my coffee was still hot and yet we’d managed to step into a realm of atmospheric bushland that I wouldn’t have believed we were driving distance from a city. Even my kids stopped clamouring to stop at a playground and happily scrambled over rocks and logs, declaring themselves at one with nature. In fact the kids were so impressed that nature could rival a playground that they asked to visit ‘more nature’ today! Today’s exploring took us to Toodyay, some of which I shared in my stories, but these photos are from Bells Rapid yesterday. 11/21(火)Perth, Australia Bells Rapids 灼熱とギックリ腰のハイキング後半 🐨 Aiden君はヘビよけの杖を持っている。 よく見る橋まで来たので戻ることになった。 ホッとして歩いてたが歩いても歩いても車に辿り着かない。 まだ？こんなに歩いてきたかな？ と思ってたら Aiden「ワタシのクルマはドコデスカ？」 どこかな程度に言ってると思ったら本当に分からないらしく、夫も「え？どこや」とどんどん足どりが早くなり、痛みと暑さと疲労と空腹で私は耐えられなくなった😵💫 私「Aiden、わたしここに座ってるから、車見つけて迎えに来て」😭と頼んだ。 Aidenも1人の方が身軽で「了解👌」と行ってしまった。 日陰に座って持ってる水は全て飲んだ。 暑くて上はブラトップだけで涼んでた。日本でおばちゃんがこんな格好だとビックリだろうけどこっちじゃ見慣れてるやろ しばらくして夫もちょっと見てくると行ってしまった。 パースの山の中で1人で座ってる自分がおかしかった😅 少しして向こうから白い車でAidenが来てくれた時は助かったと思った🥹 最後に動画撮ってるから見てね😆 結局、2.5kmも通り過ぎて30分ぐらい下まで歩いて来てたみたい💦 というわけで1時間のハイキングの予定が3時間ぐらいかかったのでした。 まあ、ハプニングありがフリーの旅行の楽しいとこやん🇦🇺 おもろ過ぎやろ🤣 ネタやん #Perth #BellsRapids
11/21(火)Perth, Australia この日はAiden君と３人でBells Rapidsにハイキングに行ってそのあとワイナリーとブリュワリー、動物園を訪れる予定でした。 天気予報で37度？暑そう☀️なので1時間だけ歩こうと前日に話してました。 ていうかその後の42度って冗談やろ？と思ってた😳 しかし、私、10/29の娘の結婚式の後インフルエンザになり体調回復しないままPerthに来たので、疲労がたたり朝食を食べてる時に右脇腹が痛くなり、靴下も履けないぐらい😭 ギックリ腰みたいでした。 ハイキングなんて無理よ😭 夜は初めてAiden君のご両親とディナーなのよ それまで私はホテルで寝とくから 夫だけ行ってきてと頼んだけど、 「歩けなかったら車に座ってたら良いから一緒に行き」と言われて痛み止め飲んでAiden君の車でBells Rapidsに向かったのでした。 本来なら春で良い季節なのに異常気象の熱波で、私のアップルウォッチも38度になってた🔥 車降りるのもAidenくんの手を借りて一苦労。右脇腹が痛くて段差を上り下りするのも2人が支えてくれたり押してくれたりで、ありがたい気持ちと痛さで涙流しながら歩いてた。 オーストラリアらしい赤い土と植物の中人もなく、嬉しさと痛さ暑さの中必死のハイキングとなりました😂 Rapidsは急流という意味で本当は急流の横を歩くはずが、暑さで少ししか水も流れてなかった🥹 #Perth #bellsrapids
